Found an O/U that fits me very well and is well priced. But...it has 30" barrels. Would prefer 32." Anyone use 30" on their O/U?

Have both. A K-80 with 30" barrels I use for sporting and skeet. Even use it to shoot Doves in the field. Also have another K-80 with 32" barrel I use for trap doubles. Both guns are combo with 34" single barrels included. Used for trap singles and handicap.

I find if I want to move to a target faster, the 30" barrels are advantage. If I want to move with more control or slower, the 32" barrels work well. It easy to feel and see the difference using the 2 guns back and forth.

The stocks and fit are also set up for the intended targets. Flatter shooting for clays and Doves. A 1/4" shorter LOP for faster lateral movement. Higher POI and longer LOP for trap targets. Trap POI varies between doubles and single target presentation based on personal needs.

Like 26" for Skeet, 30" was the "standard" for trap in the old days. I have shot 27" through 34" for Trap and can miss just as many with any of them. Barrel weights can make up a lot for weight and balance. Personally I think there is too much credit given to barrel length (within reason). Of course the current trends create resale issues for the older inventory.

I shoot 30" tubes. Have tried 32'' barrels, but found them to be a little too much iron to sling in the models of gun that I like. I am slow to that 2nd target in doubles, and that makes scoring well, spotty at best. Having said that, I find if I spend a little time shooting in the Oregon Doubles Classic events, My scores definitely improve. Lets face it doubles targets come out of the trap in pretty much the same place most of the time. Practice will help a lot. Having said that, out here in the West, I would venture to say that 32" OU barells out number anything else here. "Try both and find what You like". I got that advice from Joel Etchen, and I am glad that I took it. You may want to try before You buy.

For doubles I liked 32" tubes on the Kreighoff I had, 30" barrels were too whippy. When I went to Perazzi's I've owned several guns from 32-29-1/4" barrels, and I prefer 30" tubes...but as most have mentioned it's all about balance and gun fit. I'm a quick shot and the 30" P-guns balance nicely for me at doubles and continental. I haven't shot bunker in so long, I'll just leave it that way! lol

I shoot a 34" Krieghoff KX5 on singles and sometimes a 30" M12 pump. I'll be shooting doubles for the first time in a match next week (weather permitting) and I'll be using my Browning Ultra SC gun with 30" barrels with extended LM and F chokes. I shot it today with a washer under the adj comb on singles and it did just fine. I shoot this gun quite a bit at skeet and it feels great to me. Once it's mounted, I can't tell it's not a 32" barrel; my focus in on the target.

I have a Pro Sporter K-80 with 30" barrels. I shoot everything with it.

asking if anyone uses 30" bbls on a trap gun is like asking... does anyone use toothpaste on their toothbrush. :>
