As I read it, it's not a shotgun either because it never had a shoulder stock. And if it did, it would have to have an 18" barrel. So what the ATF decides about a brace is anybody's guess.

Until I read this article, I wouldn't have believed this gun wasn't an AOW.

Probably the same thing that they decided about short barreled AR pistols.

The reason that I ask is that it would be much easier to hip shoot if you had some form of a stock tucked under your arm. Hip shooting is a misnomer anyway because the proper form is to pinch the buttstock between your arm and side. It also mitigates recoil considerably.

 

Im not a huge Mossberg fan but I am interested in the comcept of this gun. Is there an 870 version available on the retail market? Or is this something that would be ordered custom.

Yes, the 870 is available now. Mine was delivered last Thursday.

Blackacestactical makes a 12-gauge pump firearm with a Sigbrace, but it has a pistol-grip to hold onto.
It in fact uses a box magazine, not the tube.
How do you figure to hold onto it with a sigbrace?

I am one of what seems to be few people who doesn't mind a pistol grip on a shotgun. Many complain it beats up the hand web at the thumb.
