I have an ASTRA-Unceta & Cia. S. A. single shot 16 ga shotgun
(Mod. CICLOPE w/pull back hammer) Manufactured in 1965 in Guernica - Spain
(serial #45803)
I have had it since around 1967 and used it to hunt game birds with. I liked the single shot because it gave the "bird" a chance.
After serving a tour of duty in Vietnam (1969), I put it up in my closet and took it out occasionally only to move it or inspect it. It is starting to deteriorate slighty w/spots of Rust showing up. Mechanisms all work.
Is it worth restoring?

Your ASTRA is categorized as an "entry level" shotgun. Value should be comparable with other basic single shot, break action shotguns in like condition.

I suggest that you post some clear, close-up pix on SGW's Spanish Gun Forum. There are a number of folks on that forum who have "rescued" old attic finds and returned them to nice, serviceable condition for many more years of use. You'll find the regulars there to be very helpful. Their tips and guidance can make your refinishing job easier.
