ATI Shotforce products - crap?

Does anyone else use ATI stuff on their shotguns? I was attracted to their stuff because of their prices. I am very satisfied with the AR15 style pistol grip stock I got from them, but I picked up a muzzle mount for $15 from them... the thing is made out of plastic! I'm afraid i'm going to shatter the thing just by using it. I am starting to think it may just be for looks. It also took a lot of extra work trying to find the right bolt for the stock i got from them because ATI didn't feel it neccesary to provide the correct length of bolt with the stock they sold me. I have a couple of other things on order from them, so I am going to cross my fingers and hope that it's better quality than what I have seen so far.

I guess you get what you pay for.

It all depends.

Their mag extensions are made well enough. I would not put them in the same class as a factory Remington or such, but, they work.

their fold over stocks are better than they used to be. They are not as good fitting as the police Remingtons, which were metal, but, they do work.

Their "shell saddles" are junk.

Their AR/M4 style stocks are about as good as it comes for the price range. I have one on a W1300 defender and a Mav 88 and both have performed flawlessly during a defensive shotgun course.

Some guys have fitted the ATI fold over stock to their 590A1s in the pit and swear by them. Having a 9shot 12g that fits in your ruck when doing urban work makes a big difference, so they say.

The only time I would consider ATI products is when they have no moving parts, such as a conventional synthetic stock, and there aren't any other better options available to fit that gun.

When it comes to tools, guns, or any other kind of gear, that's generally a bad thing to base buying decisions on. If you can't afford the fancy stuff, get the simple stuff that can be made both good and cheap.
Quality, Low cost, and Complexity, pick any two. There is a reason I expect to pay 3 times as much for a folding knife compared to a fixed blade in order to get the same quality.

You hit the nail right on the head.

Yep.

So I've heard. I would actually consider them if there wasn't another option available, seeing as it doesn't actually have any moving parts.

I'm always happy to see a company improve their product line

Check out the Knoxx NRS- simpler construction means that you get a way better quality stock for the same money.

I had the same experience. I bought the ATI collapsible stock and was pretty happy with it. Then I bought the top folding pistol grip and was very unhappy with it, damn thing felt like it was gonna snap every time I took it out shooting.

Definitely not worth the 30 bucks I paid for it.

IMO worth it

I guess I learned my lesson about gun parts. Does anyone use the ATI heatshields? I picked one up with ghost right sights, but I haven't had a chance to actually use it because i am still waiting for my 18.5" barrel that is on order. It seems strong and doesn't look like it should be a problem causer, I mean all it has to do is sit there right? I guess I'll just find out.

I have deffinately decided if I ever try to convert another shotgun, I will spend the extra money to order parts from a higher quality line of products. Except for the collapsable stock, that is really the only thing I can say I am somewhat satisfied with.

I have one on my 870 -- without the sights. It's easy to install and I haven't had any problem with it.

PS -- I know, I know -- I'm waiting for a 6-pos stock in the mail...LOL.

BTW -- I am happy with the ATI Strikeforce stock I have on one of MY AKs. It's made of plastic, but it seems to be pretty rugged so far.

They should also be made of metal, not plastic.
The rear apeture is positioned too far forward for an actual ghost ring effect. What you end up with is crappy plastic sights with a small apeture positioned too far forward to work and it is self-propelled as well.

My only experience with ATI products is thru the pawn/gun shop I used to work part time at. Every ATI accessory we got in on a gun had some type of problem with that part, broken hinges on folding stocks...cracked heat shields etc. I'm certainly not one that believes you have to spend tons of money buying the "best" accessories for your firearms, but I don't believe in throwing money down the drain either.

I won't buy anything ATI.

Please note I was talking about the sights, not the shield.

Got it -- sorry.

I've got a Charles Daley Field Tactical. I'd like to extend the mag a couple of rounds. No one seems to have such an adapter. The CD looks like a knock off on the 870. Anyone know if the ATI extension will work. Seems to me that the only possible problem would be the thread pattens on the CD and Rem 870. Any info is welcome.
