Ok, I know this should have been easy, and my searches both here and mfg websites has not given me a conclusive answer so please bear with me.
I have a Baikal IZH27 (hunting two) that I want to use as an alternate for skeet and trap doubles. I want chokes to use for skeet but can not determine the proper choke style that will work in this shotgun.
I did find that according to Briley this gun uses the TruChoke system, but I have been unable to cross it to an actual choke tube.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I recently had Mike Orlen install a set of Colonial extended sporting chokes in my Rem 310 .410. He did an very fine job and both barrels shoot to POA just as they did with the fixed chokes. I also have a 30" Beretta 12 ga barrel that has been fitted with thin wall tubes and I have both Colonial and Truchoke tubes for it. I also have an early Ruger Red Label 12 ga fitted with Truchoke flush and extended tubes. They all perform exceptionally well.

Hi!

Baikal choke are Tru-choke type chokes. you might want to consider Trulock chokes if you want the very best that money can buy (pattern and fabrication/finishing wise) or you can also think about colonial chokes which are excellent too but no way comparable to Trulock. Trulock is a totally different class of chokes tubes.

Check Brownells for chokes made for o/u the knurled ends are narrower d/t the closeness of the barrels. I just purchased 4 extended steel shot tubes (colonial arms, they are blued not stainless or silver colored), because the tubes that came with my Spartan 320/Ish27 were for lead only. The price is reasonable, if you have a CR license you get a discount, I believe I paid 19.00 a piece for them.

I have not tried any other brands, except the ones that came with gun, (which I believe are similar to colonial).

I just shot the gun with the X-full and full chokes yesterday and was happy with the results from 30-40 yards. I did not measure the pattern, just a visual.

Good Luck,
Mike

Be sure to check out Carlson's. Choke tubes are their buisness. Call them directly at the phone number on their website and someone will always be available to talk to you during regular hours CST. I use Carlson's products on my Remington 870, Mossberg 500, and my favorite, the Baikal 310 o/u. I'm still in the process of comparing patterns on the Tru-chokes, but the differences between manufacturer chokes and Carlson's on the other models have been noticable.

I love shooting my Baikal so much that the chokes don't seem to matter. I keep hitting every time with the chokes I bought from both EAA and Carlson's. I haven't yet compared patterns on paper targets at different ranges with the Tru-chokes, but based on the experiences with my Mossberg and Remington, using Carlson's gives me confidence.
