Old model. Made from 1977 to 1986, until replaced with Izh-43, which is basically Izh-58 without top fastener. Give me the serial No and I might be able to date it with more precision.

Could be 1982 or 1976 (there's inconcistency in my reference material: books say Izh-58MA/MAE were made from 1977, while date code tables show them MAE made from 1975 and MA from 1976).

Can we assume that parts are interchangeable between IZ58 and IZ43? Naturally excepting bits of the top fastener system of the 58.

 

Some are. What I think will fit: mainsprings, mainspring assembly (cocking rods and detainers), the underbolt and the safety assembly (this, as I was told, can even retro-fit to pre-1974 "M" actions, which will thereby be converted to auto safety). Probably also hammers, sears with their springs and triggers, (provided Izh-43 is not a magnum action, which has independent firing pins). Some fitting to place can be expected. All the above for DTNE guns. Single triggers of course not, ejectors definitely not, and the ejector cockers on the action are also different. Izh-43 stock can be filed to fit Izh-58MA, but not vice versa.
