This is the LE version with fixed cylinder. Nice.

I didn't know either, I thought it'd arrive with a choke system. The box clearly states "For Law Enforcement Only" where adjustable chokes are not needed. Actually, this is a good thing for me, too - there is no need for an HD/SD shotgun to be anything more than cylinder bore. Same as my Mossberg M88. I shot both today and they ran flawlessly, with reduced recoil for hefty 2-3/4" #00 buck shells.

So far I'm happy with my A300 Patrol and that's saying a lot because I'm a die hard Benelli guy. I swapped out the cheepy plastic barrel clamp and barrel nut/tube cover for an aluminum set from GG&G and have a Surefire M640U Scout light coming for it. Still deciding on whether to put an optic on it or not, if I do it'll be either an Aimpoint Micro or ACRO.

Hello, I'm a little late to this thread; I just bought an a300 Patrol LE. The box said nothing about an LE. However, I found out when registering my warranty with Beretta. I sent them an email asking why there were no choke threads; there response was LE guns do not have a provision for a choke.
I was wondering if any body an any comment or experience with the choke pattern of an LE versus anon LE?

Thanks

If the shotgun is primarily for HD/SD not having a choke system is actually a good thing - it's not needed for the short distances (out to 20-30yds, but realistically mostly 5-15yds) and no worry about a choke unscrewing itself at the wrong time. FWIW, I run my Beretta 1301 Comp 21 with either a CYL or IC choke for HD/SD and between the two I can't perceive a significant patterning variation for #1 to #00 buckshot, and if slugs are required the CYL is fine.

I bought a Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol LE (black) back in July. My son manages several gun stores/ranges, so I got a really good price on the LE version with the fixed IC choke...and as others have said, you really don't need MultiChoke for a defensive/tactical shotgun. It also makes cleaning a little easier! My Ultima Patrol is extremely accurate with the fixed choke, and easily groups slugs in an 8" circle at 45 yards. I think it would still be accurate well over 50-60 yards, and could probably reach out to 100 yds or more. Buckshot patterned well up to about 30 yds (all 9 pellets in center mass), and would certainly be effective further than that. The A300 has performed flawlessly, and is actually fun to shoot.

Did some shooting today and the A300 performed flawlessly with Federal Premium LE / with FC #1 Bk, Fiocchi "low recoil" 9pellet #1 Bk (cheap and a great training ammo), Federal Top Gun #8 birdshot and full power Federal 1oz rifled slug (elevation was good and it hits 2" to the right) with the fixed ghost ring it came with.

A300 Pattern: (Cyl choke)
Federal Premium FC #1 Bk gave a 2" pattern at 10 yds and a 4.5" pattern at 15 yds

This evening I just installed the LPA adjustable rear ghost ring sight (with white dots) that comes on the 1301... VERY NICE! Tomorrow I'll make adjustments on the sight to Zero the slugs.

In the next few months I'll mount a Holosun reflex on it.

I'm very pleased with the A300. A very solid, handy shotgun. The ring of AR500 steel being hammered with buckshot is music to my ears.

I picked up the gray version a couple of months ago. So far I have added an extended choke and the Pro Lifter. Next on the list is a red dot optic and a sling:

Great pic! You're a photographer at heart :)

Same color grey here. Which extended choke is that? I've got a Kicks Buck-Kicker (Full) on the way for tightening up the pattern on cheaper brands of buckshot in the event Federal FC becomes harder and harder to find in days ahead.

I traded my A300 Ultima Patrol in yesterday on a 1301 Tactical Mod 2. My A300 wouldn’t cycle out of the box. Took it back to the store to have them send it in for me and due to a mixup, they didn’t send it in. Imagine my fear when I called Beretta and after 7 weeks, they didn’t have my gun or any knowledge that it was being sent to them. The store wanted to make it right though, so they offered to send my gun in and give me a gift card, or exchange my A300 for another one plus a gift card, or buy my gun back and give me a discount equivalent to the gift card they were offering. I couldn’t get another tiger striped gun, so I upgraded.

Sorry to hear about the A300 experience. Your Shop did you right in the end it sounds like. Let us know how you're liking that 1301.

My A300 has been running like a champ. I've been ringing steel plates and shooting patterns 3 or 4 days a week since I got it. I appreciate the light weight, generous magazine capacity, the Sights and it shoots very smoothly. I don't even notice the recoil on this shotgun (coming from an old Wingmaster 870 with Vang Comp bbl) - it's extremely smooth and reliable but the recoil is there.

Good morning to all (0630 hrs here on a beautiful chilly Fall morning). I've been shooting the A300 almost daily (I have a rural property, so shooting at home here makes it easy). Ringing AR500 steel targets with buckshot is music to my ears. We have 80 +/- free-range chickens here, so coyotes and other pests are always around. The A300 goes with me when I go out the door in the event of such an opportunity. I take walks around the property and plink at steel plates I have here and there along the way.

The A300 functions flawlessly since the very first shot. I've been very impressed with it. It's light, handy and reliable. I've got it zeroed for 1oz rifled Slugs at 25 yds. Buckshot hits the same POA. I have made a few additions to it over the past few weeks...

It was born a 5+1 version

- I've added a Nordic Components "+2" mag extension (EXCELLENT quality and a much better QD swivel / picatinny with it)

- I swapped the plastic fixed ghost ring sight for an all-steel LPA adjustable (excellent quality)

- Added a tiny piece of picatinny to the 9 o'clock forearm for a SureFire weapon light at night

- a Vickers sling

- eventually a Holosun 509T will be the icing on the cake

- I'm also experimenting with a BuckKicker extended choke (Full) for it's ability to tighten-up buckshot patterns (my shots at coyotes can be 30+ yards in this brushy area where we live). It definitely gives tighter patterns than typical with standard buckshot loadings. Yes I love Flight Control ammo, but they're a bit expensive and sometimes hard to find, so prefer to not use them for plinking at pests during the daytime - this BuckKicker choke sort of mimicks Flight control ammo (not quite as tight, but in the ballpark). I plan to try the X-Full also, but they're no-where to be found for the past couple weeks. I will pick one up when I can find one in stock.

I just got the Kicks Buck-Kicker X-Full a couple days ago. It's been a lil chaotic since I received it so have not fired any patterns with the X-Full yet, but will do so today or tomorrow. I'll report the results.

The A300 Patrol continues to function perfectly with any ammo I've fed it - #8 birdshot target loads to 00 Low Recoil to Slugs. I've not been this excited about a shotgun in many years. It's a blast just a fun, high quality shotgun all the way around.

The 1301 Cycles faster, has better barrel steel and has a longer estimated life. The A300 has a better loading port and furniture. I still plan to get an A300 in addition to my 1301.

the M2 is superb as well. i wouldn’t hesitate to use the M1/M2.
