Page 29 of the manual states specifically not to disassemble the spring/exhaust valve assembly.
I just cleaned a friend's 1301 Tactical that had a couple thousand rounds through it in training classes and the spring assembly just got the solvent and brush routine and then sprayed off with BC Gun Scrubber. The interior of the gas cylinder was CAKED with fouling. It took quite a bit of work just to get the piston out. It took the better part of an hour to get the cylinder cleaned up. The piston was also CAKED with fouling also but I let it set in a jar of Slip 2000 Choke/Piston cleaner for about 15 minutes and it cleaned up with some plastic & brass toothbrush work. (He typically only cleans his weapons when they will no longer function. He had a couple new parts he needed installed and I just couldn't put it back together the way it was, I wouldn't have been able to sleep.)

If this post correctly hears the directions for a 1301 comp . The tactical is similar but not exactly the same. (one extra part to remove) I have never removed the spring on my 1301. It has thousands of rounds on it.

My reading comprehension skills are not good. I know what the book says.
i have oiled the piston on my Beretta SAs for 30 years. NEVER CAUSED A PROBLEM!
what I found was it was way easier to clean the piston, often time just wiping it off.
With no oil, it bakes on and requires a lot of elbow grease to remove.
You do it your way and I’ll continue doing it my way(y)
