Is there any way to compare the Beretta Silver Pigeon II 687 to a Browning Citori Golden Clays, for shooting Sporting Clays. I have the browning 28 inch, and want a better gun with longer barrel. I found a SPII 687 with 30 inch, that is what I am looking for, but want to know if it is a better gun quality wise and better for shooting Sporting Clays. OR am I just wasting my money

Any opinion would be helpful

The Beretta is not a "better" gun, if that is your question, even if the barrels are two inches longer.

The fit between Beretta's and Browning's are quite different. Pick what fits you.

Some will get on here and say you need at least 32" barrels to shoot sporting. Others will say shoot what you have. I wouldn't buy the Beretta just because the barrels are two inches longer.

Both guns you've mentioned are nice guns and good guns. Shoot whichever you like best.

Exactly and typically, if one fits you well, the odds are the other will not.

I agree. Which ever one fits the best. I love Beretta O/Us but no longer have any because they fit me horribly and no matter how much much I liked them I could not overcome the fit (w/o spending a bunch of money). I now have Citoris. They fit great and I shoot so much better for ME. You may be different. After owning both I find the quality to be equal.

Folks on here will tell you fit is everything. You'll also hear about how "if one fits, the other won't." While I'm not an expert, I would have to agree with those comments, in general. Out of the box, Berettas fit me better than Brownings... and probably better than the others I tried before buying my first Beretta (Fabarm, Browning, Winchester, Ruger). I would also add that, to me, the Beretta feels nimble and elegant and the Browning feels more "blocky." However, given the stellar reputation of Brownings and their millions of devoted owners, I would have to say that the feel I describe is a by-product of the fit of the gun to the shooter.

I did shoot a Browning Trap gun once that fit me really good... but the owner had had the LOP lengthened to achieve his desired fit. I couldn't miss with that gun.

I would suggest shooting both guns, preferably in the same setting, if possible, in order to make your decision.

Thank You all very much for the responses. I also have a browning XT trap that I shoot. It fits and feels great, and I shoot it well, but I have trouble hitting targets with the Golden Clays. I even went back to an old B2000 Browning and hit more clays than the citori. I think thats the biggest reason I want to try the beretta, I HATE TO MISS.

I must be a weirdo cause both Beretta 68X and Browning Citoris fit me pretty well and I shoot them about equally well. I have quite a few of the Berettas and only one left of the clitoris (16 ga). They are both good guns. If I could have only one it would be a Beretta. But you may like the citori better.
You really cant make a bad decision here.
