Best gloves for cleaning guns?

Every time I clean my guns my hands smell like Hoppe's No 9 for the next 24 hours. Plus it CAN'T be good to get that stuff on your skin. The other day I was using copper bore cleaner and gun scrubber right before lunch and, even though I washed my handed thoroughly, I swear I have a bitter taste in my mouth for 48 hours. I think I passed some of the chemicals to my sandwich and ate it. That must be REAL bad for me.

I have tried using cotton work gloves but the solvent soaks right through. Can anyone recommend a good type of gloves to handling and cleaning guns, one that will not soak through or break down from the solvents yet not reduce dexterity more than necessary? Thanks!

I use powder free latex gloves from the local CVS or Walgreens (in boxes of 100 for less than $5). Gun Scrubber will soften them up if you let it set too long* but they are quite resistant to Rem-Oil, Hoppes, etc.

* I sometime switch to a second pair if I'm soaking and scrubbing a grimy part

I LOVE the smell of Hoppe's, but I use latex. BTW I'm a dentist so no supply problems.

That grungy sH*t is some bad stuff. i don't want it on me.
Lots of heavy metals. The professional gunsmiths I know all use gloves.

I guess my age is showing or something. It never in my life occurred to me to wear gloves to clean my guns before reading this post. It's sort of like the guy on The High Road who advised me of the sharp triggers that cut people, and poot trigger hand ergonomics on Remington 1100s. I just don't know why I don't feel smarter after being on the internet.....
No, I take that back, it's not the same thing at all, sorry.

Just so you guys understand, I LOVE the smell of Hoppe's and gun oil. It reminds me of guns and guns = FUN. Just smelling it puts me in a good mood. It also never ocurred to me to use gloves when I was a casual hunter/shooter cleaning my gun maybe once every 2-3 months. But now I am an avid clay shooter, put 1,000+ shells through my guns a month and have to clean 3-4 guns a week (I switch between guns for variety). So I get a LOT more cleaning solvent on me than before. And realistically, solvents like that are usually carcinogenic and having that stuff on your skins on a regular basis can't get good for you.

But the real reason is that my girlfriend doesn't like me touching her if my hands smell like Hoppe's. You gotta pick your battles!
