What's everyone's opinion on the Blaser Vantage? Pros and Cons?

It can allow for a more comfortable, upright head position (for taller people or long necks). I have heard people say it is easier to see around the gun, but I haven’t really found that to be the case.

It is ugly in my opinion, but my gun is not a decoration so who really cares. I find it slightly harder to clean the vantage rib than a flat rib.

I have both a vantage and sporter. I find the mid-rib opens up my view when compared to the low rib. I guess it is like lifting your head up off the gun a little….just gives you a bit clearer view. However, I haven’t compared in any way to prove I shoot one better than the other.

I think making the decision between flat rib versus vantage rib is primarily based on personal preference. As other posters have stated, the barrel/stock relationship can be varied by selecting different stocks or by using an adjustable comb. If both guns fit the same, then it comes down to personal preference. I have shot both and I personally prefer the low rib since it makes me feel more connected and in line with the barrels. For me the higher rib makes me feel like the gun is shooting below where I am looking. I haven’t done any testing to determine if my results are any better with one or the other. I just feel like the low rib feels more natural to me. YMMV

The one thing nobody mentioned.........if your F3 is a few yrs old the ribs are interchangeable. The new models are fixed ribs. I purchased my second F3 6 months ago an engraved model with low rib a few years old. First thing I did was have Phillip Foy (our Gunsmith at club) change it to a Vantage rib to match my other F3. I really prefer the Vantage rib,
and the 20ga barrel I have mates up with both, a very well designed and constructed shotgun

Yep! Believe it or not, the engraved guns with flat rib barrels still ship with the old style removable rib—which is nice because these barrels are right at 3.5oz lighter than the integral rib Comp Sport barrels.

As an aside, we frequently replace Vantage ribs with flat ribs for people who want lightweight flat rib barrels. I love the system.

My son and I recently spent some time with Nick at Woolleys Shooting Center in St. Augustine. My son recently graduated and we were shopping for a new shotgun as graduation gift. We went there anticipating getting the Zoli Z sport mid rib. But after handling several different options, he likes the feel of the F3 Vantage the most. So we got to take one out and demo it…my son and I both really loved the feel of the Vantage. Based in much internet feedback, I expected the recoil to be an issue. It was not an issue at all! That is the one my son chose and loves it. As many have said, find one and try before you buy. I’m on the lookout for a good used one for me.

Just picked one up so my opinion comes from the selection process and 2 rounds of skeet. I felt like I had a better sight picture with the vantage compared to the competition flat rib. I also paired it with a TSK opposed to the super sport straight butt stock.

Generally I prefer the aesthetics of a flat rib and sporting stock but the Vantage/TSK just felt more natural.

I have owned 6 Blaser F3 guns, a flat rib, mid rib, and 4 of the high rib guns. I started with the flat rib as that was all they had at the time. When the F3 SuperSport came out I got one and sold the flat rib gun. When they came out with the Vantage mid rib I got one of those and shot it for a while. It was fine but I just shoot the high rib guns better so I traded it for another SuperSport with an Isis recoil reduction system after rotator cuff surgery and then a total replacement. Not needing 4 high rib guns I sold 3 of them ( my friends keep buying them from me ) so I'm down to 1 Blaser now. I also have a set of 20 gauge barrels for it.

My F3 came with 2.0" of drop at the heel. Have spent quite a bit of time and money sorting this out. Through various means, it now has a 3" drop at the heel. As a result, my head is now up, and I can see better. Also, there is Zero (0") (nada) cast on the stock, which has also been sorted out. I have yet to figure out why Blaser has such unconventional stock dimensions.
