Browning Choke tubes DS

I had a few folks tell me that some of the browning choke tubes are not very good. I have a 725 and most of the choke tube pattern very well. A friend of mine decided to mic his Beretta choke tubes. He informed my that all of his 5 choke tubes were only a 1,000 of an inch difference. So I thought I would mic my Browning DS choke tubes and this is what I came up with. SK .740 Im .734 Lm .733 M .729 Im ,724 F ,770. What I was a little concern about that there is little difference between Improve and Low Mod. Seems a little strange to me. I am going to pattern my gun with those 2 chokes again and see if there is much difference.

Ummm, sloppy punctuation and maybe some errors in choke labels there. Perhaps even errors measuring.
Really think you measured your Imp Cyl at 0.734 and wrote that it was Imp Mod.
If that is true that your IC is 0.734 and Light Mod is 0.733, then PERHAPS you have an out-of-spec IC tube.
And if your Full actually measures 0.770, you have a faulty choke tube.

But - Browning has taken a different choke constriction approach with the DS chokes than normal chokes. You may find that there is not a lot of difference in the internal tube tightest constriction measurement in all the lighter chokes (from Skeet through Modified). Others have reported that.

It would be nice to hear from other 725 owners on the DS choke tube.
Well, after reading a lot of information from various sources I decided I didn't want to even try the factory chokes. I ordered a set of Briley tubes before I even had possession of the new 725 Golden Clays.
So I now have a set of new unused Browning DS Chokes...

I am surprised to hear so much negative reviews on the browning DS chokes. I find if hard to believe that browning would cut corners on such a nice gun on its choke tubes. Maybe I just got a bad Improve cylinder or Low Mod. Well I decided a while back purchasing some after market choke tubes, so I ordered some Briley's. All I can hope for now is that my scores will go up. Anything to give you that edge LOL.

Browning supposedly uses the actual patterns for the designation on their chokes. Their Cylinder Invector Plus choke is +.005.

The Browning chokes in my 28 ga. 525 are slightly different than the Briley chokes and in some choke designations the Brileys pattern better, and in some, the Browning factory chokes do. One of my Briley chokes in the 28 ga. patterns well but shoots high and to the left. All of the Browning chokes are concentric and shoot dead on, but some don't pattern well.

I have never miked a choke, fixed or screw-in. I have however patterned my guns with various chokes. I thought the DS chokes were just fine pattern wise. Now, having said that, I have gone to Muellers for their lighter weight and, I believe, less of a tendency to loosen up. Apparently something to do with dissimilar metals. You'll have to ask Mr Mueller.

When I bought my first 725 it was a trap model o/u. The only choke that measured(by normal standards) as it should was the full choke, all the others were under what a IC would be. I bought some kicks chokes that I needed and never looked back. 2nd 725 was a sporting. Just bought a pair of Pure Gold 15's again never looked back. I like the 725's.

When I shot my 725 Sporting, I thought the chokes broke targets about one designation more open than marked. In other words, the M broke targets like a normal LM would. The IC broke targets like a SK would. But I think they were fine as long as you had enough choke.

Ultimately, I bought a pair of Muller U2s and basically kept them in the gun. With #8s through that U2 I could hit anything that was in my ability range. Anything outside my ability range I used #7.5.
