Has anybody owned or own a Charles Daly SxS and if so what is your opinion on them. I know Miroku of Japan made the Browning O/U at one time. Are these as good of quality?

I don't have any experience with the CD/Miroku 500, but I do own a Miroku over/under that was made in roughly the same era as the Charles Daly Mirokus. It is a fine shotgun. Absolutely equal (at least) to any of the Japanese Brownings that came later.

BTW, my understanding is that Browning saw the quality of the Superposed copies that Miroku was making and approached them about making the guns under their name. AFAIK, EVERY Browning Citori and every Made in Japan Browning BSS was, and continues to be, made by Miroku. The Japanese Browning A5 shotguns were also made by Miroku. Stated another way, every Made in Japan Browning shotgun is in actuality a Miroku.

As an aside, we transferred a new Browning .22 auto rifle for a customer today. The barrel was clearly stamped "Miroku."

Yes, the Miroku 500 is a gun of good quality. The Charles Daly Miroku guns are good. My hunting buddy had a Miroku 500 in 12 gauge. Nice gun. I doubt you will find a better 20 gauge in the same price range. Parts might be a problem if it breaks. But there is little chance of that if it is treated right.

Blade's Miroku is a most excellent goodern, and lovingly made with care and hand fitted parts.

All of the Miroku Daly's I've seen were excellent, well made shotguns.

Charles Daly lived and died well over a hundred years ago. He never made a shotgun. But his name sold countless shotguns, and not until the very last was the name Charles Daly was never put on cheapo bargain basement stuff. The Japanese Miroku made Daly's are often great bargains today.

They had no scruples about finding some gray haired senatorial looking guy and saying he ws Charlie Daly and inventing him a smooth and beautiful, somewhat younger wife and even Charie Daly, Jr., who was a chip off the old block. This ad was from 1967, the heyday of the Miroku Charles Daly shotguns. They were in every gun magazine at the time, and it made me want one some kind of badly.:)

Here's another one from 1968, showing the Daly lineup:

They even found some cute quadruplets to sell the Daly shotguns. They may have even said they were Charlie's daughters. Wonder where these old ladies are now, and where that four gauge skeet set is?

I had a 28' CD 500. It was one of the nicest bird guns I've had. Just the right amount of weight to shoot well, it balanced well in the hand, and barely recoiled. Like most Pistol grip/BT sxs they are a little heavier compared to a splinter/straight stock english style gun, but not so much that they are overweight.
I regret selling it, but I was bored and thought my hands were too big for the PG/DT combination. I shot it much better than the O/U I traded it for. They look really nice if you remove the crappy varnish finish and put on a nice oil finish.

beautiful and well made shotguns. Just be careful, some parts are almost impossible to find. Parts are not interchangeable with Browning Citoris. Just a word of caution. If the gun's in good shape, I wouldn't let it stop me. They are great guns!

Nice looking guns for sure. I happened up on one in a LGS recently marked $450. Got excited as it looked in nice condition. Unfortunately the bores looked like a sewer pipe. I don't believe I've ever seen a modern gun so pitted. I don't know if the guy got some old BP shells and didn't clean it but it was sad to see.
