Citori Barrel Selector/Safety Repair

I have an older field grade Citori (from late 80's to early 90's). The barrel selector/safety switch moves too easily. While in the field - and gun is on "safe" - it is too easily bumped into the middle between the "Over" selection and the "Under" selection. The problem arises when I am ready to shoot, and the selector/safety is in the middle location, I cannot take the safety off. My eyes are on the bird, and it flies away without a shot, because my gun is stuck on safe.

It appears there would be a spring (or something) that has worn. Does anyone have experience with a repair in this area? I need to know what the problem may be - and know if it is something fairly easy to repair. I am very mechanically inclined, but never messed too much with the insides of O/Us.

I know the easy answer is for me to remove the stock and start looking, but I want to have an idea of what I am getting myself into before I start.

Any help is appreciated.

There's a bit of spring steel that tensions the barrel selector. My guess would be that yours needs to be replaced. I'd send the gun to an authorized service center-- you're only likely to do damage fooling with it yourself *IF* you can even find the part.

I've looked at that same diagram from the MGW website and had the ability to blow it up on the screen. There are two or three parts that could be the culprit. Not sure if it is the selector spring, the ball, or the ball spring. I am not sure which one tensions the barrel selector, versus tensioning the safety - if they are different.
