Citori weight

I've always been a pump, or most recently a semi auto guy. Lately I've been toying with the idea of an over under for my rabbit hunting. I've been looking at citori hunter grade 1 26" barrel. ...why do they weigh so much? Is there any reasonable way to make them lighter? The Beretta sp1 is lighter, but I don't know if $500 extra is worth it. Plus the Browning fits me well. Anyone have advice or options? My current .410 semi auto weighs 5.9 lbs

I'd stick with the Browning if it fits. That's most of the battle when choosing a shotgun. If you need to put the Citori on a diet, I'd start with Titanium chokes and then you could remove some wood from the inside of the stock. I wouldn't go too nuts removing wood, just enough to match the weight you removed from the barrels. 3/4" drill bits work great for removing weight in the stock. Go slow, you don't want to remove too much. Remember the recoil pad also has some weight so keep it in mind when trying to remove weight. Add it back on when checking the balance..

Browning has lighter models. This will kill a rabbit: The Brilliant Browning: 725 Citori Feather 20 Gauge O/U .

Billed as weighing 5 lbs. 14 oz., this 28 inch barreled O/U comes in just exactly as advertised, weighing 5 lbs. 13.7 oz.
Nice writeup on that 725 Citori Feather 20 ga. O/U. That should work well for the OP's intended purpose.

Personally, I would choose a lightweight 20 gauge semi-auto for rabbit hunting such as the Franchi Model 48 at about 5.5 pounds, but that's not what the OP asked about.

Don't need a 20 gauge for rabbits, especially with good beagles. I did that years ago. I have a 20 gauge semi already that I am happy with. I use it for pheasant...I took the plunge and ordered the citori. I'm sure I'll get used to the weight, was just hoping, and dreaming I guess.

Thanks. Nice pics, but where are the DOG pics? We want to see those hounds. :D

BTW, nice looking gun.

Also, can't say that I've ever seen a meter that keeps track of the distance that your dogs ran.
