Curious how these two compare from those that have experience with both? I “think” the White Satin is just a cosmetic variation of the Citori Hunter? CXS has vented ribs while White Satin doesn’t - is one better than the other? Why $500 more for CXS?

I own both:
-CXS
- 14 3/4 LOP
-Right hand palm swell
-Vented Mid Rib
-Extended Midas Grade chokes that are pictured in the White Satin
-Gloss finish
-Schnabel forend

-White Satin
-14 1/4 LOP
-Solid mid rib
-Flush chokes
-Satin Finish
-Old School butt pad.

I shoot them both really well and the White Satin is a really clean looking Citori. The CXS has some extra checkering on the stock near the safety as well.

Both the CXS and White Satin are available to me from the store where I work. I chose the White Satin because of the following reasons:

•narrow, slightly ramped rib vs the dead-flat and overly wide CXS rib that tapers out from the breech end
•more drop at heel vs CXS
•grip/wrist of White Satin has a much better shape than CXS, as does the rounded forearm vs the (in my view) sort of clunkily-executed schnabel of the CXS
•White Satin’s silver nitride metal finish comes standard; CXS White is around $800.00 more
•I will not pay extra for the CXS’s extended chokes, as I won’t use factory Browning chokes anyway

Although I prefer 30”+ barrels, the regular Citori barrels are thick enough that I find 30” to be too nose-heavy, thus the advantage of 30” or 32” barrels available to the CXS is really not an advantage to me. The other downside of the White Satin is its shorter LOP, but I remedied that with a 1 1/8” Kickeez; it’s still arguably a hair short for me, but it works just fine.

Subjectively speaking, the White Satin just comes up and shoulders for me in an incredibly natural way that the CX/CXS models simply don’t. And it’s not even close!

On the chokes, the Midas grade chokes on the CXS are made by Briley and can be found at MGW for $47.00.

I agree with a lot of your comparisons between the two.

I own a 20ga CSX with 30 inch barrels. I bought it two years ago as a backup for my main skeet gun, a Miroku Mk70 Sporting. Although both have virtually identical stock measurements and barrel length, they feel completely different. The CXS has a definite nose heavy feel. It took several months to get consistent with the slower swinging CSX, but I am shooting it pretty well now. I think the 30" barrels are about the limit for me.
