Commercial Round Ball or Foster Slugs

Are Commercial Round Ball or Foster Slugs available that will work well in a 12 gauge 2 3/4" Hull?

I don't know precisely what diameter would work in a 12 gauge, or if anyone sells something that will work. Does anyone know of a specific diameter that I should look for?

My own Molding processes are a little slow at the moment, while I wait for supplies.

Thanks Greg:

It's a 12 gauge smoot bore, and I usually leave the Improved Cylinder choke in.

I've been loading some Foster Type 7/8 oz slugs made in the Lee single cavity mold, but I need to speed it up for a few loads by buying some commercial products.

I'm not demanding an extreme of accuracy from the load. Any roundball that will hold to a 6" pattern at 50 yards would do me fine for some practice.

I'm using Remington 2 3/4" STS Hulls with the High Brass.

Anyone have new info? Feel free to post it. I'm still looking for good information on the Round Ball subject.

in 1 Remington H-wad, seated
50 lbs force, 1 Remington Mold-tite 1/2", seated lightly.-VdoM
That is a very helpful post, but I didn't understand the parts:

H-Wad, seated

1 Remington Mold-tite 1/2"

What are those things?

Yeah Turbo, that helps a lot. I'll look at those suppliers.

If my Lyman die handles arrived, I could make my own, but they have been backordered for over a month or more, so I cannot make my own yet.

So I am just as happy to buy ball, only because I cannot pour it yet.

Beg, borrow or steal, I want ball. You have helped a lot though. Thanks.

.690" Round ball in Activ T 35 wad in Remington Peters Blue magic hull and 26.5 gains of SR 4756 powder ignited by Win 209 primer.
You can also use other full lenght shot cup wad like RP12A, Waa 12F114, Waa 12R, RP 12, FC 12C1, Win AA 12.
.690 round ball + .050 for wad petals thickness = .740" is about .010 larger than a smoothbore measuring .730" will be a good snug fit for accuracy at 50 to 70 yards if all else is well
yet no leading in the barrel! A lot many tigers and leopards have been killed with a Round ball but at close range of 20 to 30 yards from a tree Machan's in India.

Thanks VdoMemorie, that's good specific data, and the fact that it is accurate out to 70 yds is more than good enough! Thanks!

VdoMemorie:

Per the specifications you show here, will it shoot okay out of a Mossberg 500 Improved Cylinder?

Does anyone know of any kind of a Slug Manual besides the BPI? Theirs is out of print, and though I've backordered, I really don't see it showing up at my door, any time soon.
