Hi,

Anyone have experience getting an 1100 rib reattached to the barrel? I went to my local, very trusted, smith and he declined - suggested I see if there were authorized repair centers or look for a replacement barrel. I've contacted another local smith but his comments were along the lines of the first. I will still take it to him to look at but wanted to cast a wider net here also.

It is the first 4 or 5 rib attachment points nearest the action that have come loose.

thanks, Kevin

Yes can certainly be repaired successfully.
I did one years ago that started lifting after owner shot gun still with broken locator pin.
Soft solder repaired, re finished entirely and rust blued. Used higher strength solder with a partial silver content with reasonable melt point.
It's still going along just fine.
Depends on your skill sets and background, it wasn't too challenging just time consuming and lot of preparation work which is why Smiths are turning away.
Good DIY and personal satisfaction if your inclined
