Briley offers this service for $895 including reblue. A new barrel will be cheaper.

 

I'm sure it would have to be resoldered and reblued. I know a gunsmith that may be able to do it.

 

They aren’t soldered to begin with.

 

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!!! The Remington Models 10, 11 (and The Sportsman), 17, 29, 31 and 32 all had their ribs milled integral with the barrel.

 

This is true, but their ventilated versions weren't impervious to damage, either. The 31 which faithfully served Vic Reinders is missing a section or two (I can't recall for sure) of its rib.

Yes can certainly be repaired successfully.
I did one years ago that started lifting after owner shot gun still with broken locator pin.
Soft solder repaired, re finished entirely and rust blued. Used higher strength solder with a partial silver content with reasonable melt point.
It's still going along just fine.
Depends on your skill sets and background, it wasn't too challenging just time consuming and lot of preparation work which is why Smiths are turning away.
Good DIY and personal satisfaction if your inclined

 

Loctite 380 or better yet 450 will solve the problem.

 

If the OP was inclined to go this route, Loctite 380 is not the product to use. It did not work for me in the same application.
