Hello All! I'm new here to Shotgun World, but not to firearms. I recently purchased two Condor Supreme 12 gauges. I gave one to my dad for Father's Day. They are model 31005 with 28" barrels, ejectors, mid-bead sight, and single selective trigger. They come with two chokes, one modified and one improved cylinder. So far they each have 35 rounds on 6/4, 50 rounds on 6/17, and 75 rounds on 6/18 (160 total). These are not big numbers compared to some shooters here but I'll keep my totals updated anyway! They went bang everytime the trigger was pulled and the clays break so I'm very satisfied. It's not a flashy gun (I'd actually like the trigger to be black) but that is what I like about it. The recoil pad is thick and is easy on the shoulder. They were cleaned and lubed with the stock removed (thanks Timb99x for the picture guide). I love my Stoeger, now on to the pictures!

I had another round of pasture clays yesterday. I put 100 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Federal Target loads through the Supreme. It is loosening up nicely and the ejectors are throwing the hulls a little farther than before. The clays don't stand a chance and I'm ready for the next trip out!

Thanks GrizzlyAlan. OldSkeeter, I plan on taking it out to shoot some skeet or sporting clays as I get more comfortable with it. I'm in the Houston area so it shouldn't be hard to find an open to the public skeet range. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Well I was back at it again yesterday with another hot round of pasture clays. I used 50 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot and 50 rounds of 1 oz. 7-1/2 shot Federal Target loads. There are no problems to report and the gun is functioning nicely.

My wife and I spent the weekend back home at my parent's house. On Friday my dad and I each shot 50 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Winchester Game loads hand throwing clays over the tank (about a 3 acre "lake" for those not familiar with the "tank" terminology). Saturday we went to my cousin's baby shower, needless to say I was excited! Really - they setup an automatic Do-All thrower so that we could shoot clays off the back patio into the pasture. Guns go with pretty much every family event we have and this was no exception. I shot 100 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Federal Target loads. There were 7 others shooting so it was nice being able to sweep up the hulls from the tile when we were done. Then it was off to the handgun area. We had about 15 guys with 25 guns between us. I bought a new Taurus 1911 .45 in stainless and it is great to shoot. I put 100 rounds through it this weekend. I also shot a Desert Eagle 9mm that was alot of fun. My Dad's Supreme and my Supreme are still both working great. Being back at work today I'm ready for another baby shower!

I got to take the Stoeger out again yesterday. I shot shot 25 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Winchester Game loads and 25 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Federal Target loads. The round count is not as high as usual because my shooting buddy picked up a new Stoeger Uplander Supreme 20 gauge side by side for his wife. The gun shoots great and has very little recoil compared to the 12 gauge guns the guys shoot. It has a mid bead and single trigger like the Supreme O/U but they come with extractors only. I shot just as well with the SXS as I did with the O/U. I still love my Stoeger and I have a crush on the Uplander!

Our local gun shop had a Condor Supreme for sale displayed on the sales floor for all to see and handle for over 3 months. No takers. Each time I visited the shop I'd pick it up and swing it around and think it was a pretty good value for my once-a-week trap shooting night. Of course, I, and apparently everyone else around here, read the less-than-glowing reviews on this and other forums.
But...
This past Wednesday evening I just said to 'ell with it and bought the thing. Wednesday's my trap shooting night, so I dashed home, swabbed the oil out of the bores, screwed in a pair of full choke tubes, read the manual in record time and headed off to the range.
I only shot 4 rounds that night, pulling scores of 17, 19, 21 & 23 - in that order. What I did notice was with the rather stiff break action, if you don't allow the gun to open fully, it doesn't cock the hammers. I was trying to break the gun just enough to place my hand over the breech to catch the empty hull rather than having it fly into my chin. :) I was satisfied.
Thursday morning I broke the gun down and stoned some of the sharp edges around the block and hinge area and the gun breaks much easier now. I'm still satisfied.
My son & I will drag my White Wing trap out on Sunday and I'll really push mass quantities of lead down those bores. My opinion is the Stoeger Condor is the Grizzly Machine Tool Co. of the shotgun world - good value, but ya gotta futz with it a bit.

Like a kid with a new toy, I've put 650 rounds through it this past 2+ weeks. Back on 8/14, I emptied 400 rounds of mixed Wally World Rem, Win and Federal shells (all 3 dram) though it. Gander Mountain had a sale of Champion clays for $10 a box, and well...
This gun works very well so far. My MEC Sizemaster has gotten a workout as well.

I'm sure there are alot of Stoeger O/U's around the country that are working just fine like ours. The forum will draw more negative attention because a person is more likely to come here for help when there is a problem. Most people don't have a need to post positive material and thus won't be on Shotgun World. I'm going to keep shooting and reporting the results to hopefully continue to show there is a positive side to Stoeger ownership. Keep up the shooting!

200 more target loads through the gun since 8/14, and nary a hitch. The action has been breaking on the weight of the barrels alone, chinking the shells out if you "forget" about the ejectors, and all is right with the world.
I noticed that the mid-bead was installed .012" off-center the other day while I was adjusting the comb piece, causing me some momentary distress. But I began to ignore it and just lay my cheek against the comb and have at it. I think I'll just remove it and be done with it. Anyone know if it threads in?
Last night's trap sessions yielded 2 rounds of 23/25, and one of 21/25. Every miss was accountable by my lagging behind a left-moving target.

I finally got to take the Stoeger out this past Saturday. I've been doing too much deer hunting preparation and not enough shooting. I shot shot 50 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Federal Target loads. We were hand throwing and I only missed a few. I'm hoping to get out for some dove hunting soon but I've heard the bird counts have been low down here (Richmond, Texas area).

I've had so much fun shooting my Condor at trap & skeet, I'm now having difficulty shooting my Weatherby trap gun. I'm finding out that you can't shoot a trap gun like a field gun. Making a few minor changes to the Weatherby to see if I can get that "loving feeling" back.

BTW, 1200 rounds through it and still going strong.

Guys,
I purchased a Condor for $ 285.00 used and put over 8,000 rounds of skeet, trap and sporting clays. The gun performed great, but it had an automatic safety that reset whenever the gun was opened and it also reset between shots of the upper and lower barrels when I first bought it. I had someone modify the safety so I could shoot skeet and doubles and really liked the gun. I was shooting sporting clays and driving from one station to another and the gun fell out of the bed of my pickup and hit a rock and damaged the stock. I can't shoot the gun with the stock as it is and haven't been able to locate another stock to replace it. Guess I'll keep looking for a replacement stock, but as far as an inexpensive way to get into over/under shotguns, I don't think you can beat the Condor.

Mike,

First, try Gorilla Glue. It might work.

If not, you'll probably have to contact Stoeger for a replacement stock. The gun is not popular enough to warrant third parties making replacement stocks for it.

Oh, I also have instructions for modifying the safety to manuual. Its an easy fix.

I've got at least a couple thousand rounds through my Condor, plus I've taken it waterfowl and small game hunting (3" chambers are a nice plus for ducks/geese). I has been a flawless performer and after the first 500 rounds or so it definitely could not be described as "stiff." I normally shoot my Franchi Diamond Elite for clays/trap, but that gun will probably never go hunting (too nice to get dinged up IMO). I'll still be carrying my Stoeger when I go afield and don't feel like carrying a pump.

It has also been a nice gun to teach others to shoot with. I don't cringe every time a new shooter touches it, and with an O/U it is always immediately apparent if the action is open and the gun is unloaded which helps me stress safety.

In my short time here I have seen a lot of Stoeger bashing, but in my experience mine has been nothing but reliable. It isn't the most elegant of guns, but I don't think I want to take an elegant gun and crawl over an icy breakwall with it.

Maybe we should start a pool counter of rounds fired through Stoegers without a gun failure :)

1250 through my Condor Competition since 8/12, with 75 more scheduled for tomorrow at my weekly trap night. After I'd shot 400 rounds through it, I took the stock off and boiled the receiver in an ultrasonic cleaner for 40 minutes using Ed's Red. I guess I'll do that about twice a year. Prior to the dunk tank, the inside of the action was surprisingly clean, considering all the posts to the contrary I've seen on here. The gun has performed very well.

Well I got back after it this past weekend! I shot 100 rounds of 1 oz. 8 shot Winchester Game loads hand throwing clays over the tank with my Dad. The two Condors are still working great. I've added a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum (8-3/8"), a Ruger SP101 .357 (4"), and a Sig P238 Nitron .380 to the safe since I've last posted. So many guns to shoot and so little time :) I've added my son too but he doesn't shoot very well yet!
