Correct Limbsaver Pre-fit or Grind-to-fit for Winchester SXP

Hi Folks,

Thanks to your advice, I got the limbsaver for my new Nova Tactical, and with the Nordic extension, it is a dream to shoot; it is so fun to finally rock and roll in He-Man 3-gun with my AR-10 and Springfield 1911!

Well, I just helped a buddy of mine and his fiancee become the proud owners of their first firearm, and got them a great deal at a gun show on a new Winchester SXP Defender, for $210. They love it and I have to say; its quality, fit, finish, and reliability rivals my Benelli, which cost twice as much.

Well, they were so impressed with the limbsavers on my two shoguns, that they desperately want one for the SXP. I told them that the pre-fit is the way to go, as the slip-on not only makes the stock too long for his lady, but they have a nasty habit of slipping off and becoming off-center.

The strange thing is, I can't find any information about a pre-fit model that fits the Winchester SXP Defender's stock. It is a standard, polymer-stocked model without a pistol grip, and has a pretty nice In-flex pad on it, but which is no comparison to the Limbsaver.

I would have thought that a popular scattergun from a major manufacturer would have a pre-fit Limbsaver for it, but maybe I'm wrong. Does anybody know whether it shares the same stock profile with any other Winchester model that has one?

If there is no prefit, what Grind-to-fit would be best for it? I don't know whether its buttpad and screw arrangement would fit the large, medium, or small pad template.

Thanks in advance for your help, and I am so happy to bring another friend into the proud community of gun owners, and the NRA! {hs#

Well, they used to be one file that contained all of Limbsaver's pad templates but now it looks like you may have to search amoungst listed guns to hopefully find a non-listed fit...
http://www.limbsaver.com/technical-support/ and scroll way down to the bottom.
Be sure your printer is set to "Actual Size" so it doesn't distort the profiles.
Hope this helps.

I would be suprised if it existed. I recently just sold my SXP Defender to raise the funds for my Benelli M1s90 tactical. I enjoyed the SXP and in some respects I liked the design more than Mossy or Remington guns. It's a very smooth running gun. Unfortunately, the aftermarket parts support is almost nonexistent. I never found a magazine extension and even if I had the end of the tube on the gun has dimples that prevent the rounds from feeding througb the tube. Despite all of this, I enjoyed running the gun and found the stock recoil pad to work well. I'd still have it and be happy with it had I not found a good deal a on the Benelli. ATI sells a stock and forearm kit for it but I've read the quality is questionable.

I think grind to fit is the route you may have to go.
