Cabelas and other hunting/fishing stores usually sell packages of jerky seasoning. The packages include instructions. My friend makes deer jerky in his oven...set low...probably about 250 or so. I've not done it, so I confess I'm unclear about the details. At any rate, no special dehydrator is required.

good luck and good hunting

The way to do it in your oven is to:

1: Place marinated meat strips on wooden skewers, make sure there's room between each one for air circulation.
2: Place cookie sheets or tin foil on bottom rack of oven to collect drippings (Not needed if you're addicted to oven cleaner).
3: Set rack to highest level.
4: Hang skewers from underside of top most rack. Make sure there's room for circulation.
5: Set oven temp to lowest possible and still be considered "on" or as close to 110 as you can get.
6: Mostly close the oven door. Leave it open an inch or so for warm moist air to escape.
7: Wait patiently until meat is at the desired dryness.
