Don’t these 2 guys shoot a similar style or system? Starting at the back edge of target?

Sometimes these guys in an effort to sell more trading DVDs explain things differently. I have shot with both and they can and do use several methods depending on the target.

Yeah, and just cause these guys are the best in the world, doesn’t mean how they perceive or explain something is right. While back we had the discussion about shot string blah blah. These are athletes not scientists. I’m sure there’s a F1 driver out there who can’t explain how a simple 4 cycle engine works. and sometimes things aren’t as simple as they appear to be. Most people would agree, bigger brakes will stop a car faster, right? No, not at all. No difference in stopping distance.

GD said in his live stream ( paid version) with Anthony Matarese that in America he will use 1 1/8 as well. His theory is why wouldn't you?The UK has a 1 oz rule, hence the use of 1 oz there.

The interesting point in both of these shooters is while they come from behind, they use this simply to stay on the line. They both seem to slow to the target speed at the very end of the shot. GD's hypothesis is you can miss a target four ways, front, back, over and under. Coming from behind eliminates two of these variables.

Makes sense to me,

I highly recommend the $99 interview. It's worth every penny to get into the minds of two of the greats.

I was squadded with Brandon once and it was very noticable on his first shot. Starting almost on the trap when possible. He also tracked the target quite a distance before shooting. Anything straight vertical was tracked from the peak almost to the ground even though it could be shot as it stalled on the climb. I didn't pay enough attention on the second target to remember how it was approached or set up for and after watching some Digweed videos from shoots the second shot doesnt appear to be approached the same in general. This has me a little curious on how this method works when dealing with a fast simo or a report pair when you cant get your HP back for the #2 bird.
It seems like an excessive amount of movement could be needed to set up the second shot or is it shot a different way. Also with birds with complex lines is the swing thru on a shorter line.

I think Brandon and Digweed are right on the money with their methods.
When considering the technical aspects of shooting a clay. Their methods make the most sense for consistency. Line, Lead, Speed. Get two of them right and the rest is a lot easier. I never got the whole follow the clay in front and never use it. Most people I know that use the in front methods are obsessed with measuring lead. I wonder why..
