What’s your Dream Gun?

If you were gonna invest seriously in a gun and imagine it’s the last one you’re ever gonna buy ( I know, I know, never enough)- BUT if you had to choose between say, a Perazzi HighTech, Krieghoff K-80, A Beretta DT 11, Blaser F3, etc. what would imagine you could live with as your last FOREVER shotgun purchase ? Your Reasoning?

A Dickson SxS, or DMB for that matter, often have a strength and designed purpose coupled with style and beauty that takes one's breath away.

This question has been asked before on many message boards and I am glad that is so but in rethinking ....my dream scattergun might well be a plain American boxlock or pump or whatever of no great repute or grade, with worn or gone bluing, covered in scratched memories of mistakes, successes and Life and....owned by my Father.

That would be a true dream tho as my Father was not a Birdhunter, only just barely hunted in fact.....the gun does not exist.
Still, one can indeed dream.
And, there you have it.

....with a Woodward grip.

Reasoning?....reasoning too often spoils a dream.

My dream gun will be a Semi-Auto, drank the O/U, S/S kool-aid, just did not care for it. To me, the looks of a gun is secondary to how well I shoot it. My dream gun will be the one I finally shoot 100/100 with, that will make it a dream gun, be it plastic, wood, blued, coated, or whatever. I am still looking for it ❗

my dream gun is more about the process of making it than it is the actual gun. A fitting that includes multiple stock designs in multiple weights to get close and then a shave/shoot process that lasts as long as needed. Like the perazzi process shown in many videos but instead of shooting a plate inside after each tweak i'd get to go outside and shoot a variety of targets.

The dream bird gun is probably an mx28 choked ic/im 31" bbls, uk sporter style stock with slight palm and weight in the 6.5 - 6.75 range with the fairly modest lusso engraving and smoky caramel sc2 wood. Solid ribs. Definitely more interested in nice wood than gaudy engraving. Oh and a set of 410 barrels to go with it.

Here is mine.

Followed closely by one like shown from this maker.

For a SxS I'd have to also say the H&H Royal, besides the exceptional workmanship, simply the best engraving pattern out there for me. Purdy, Boss and others with their traditional rose and scroll leaves me cold, but the traditional Royal pattern (and there are variations, all bold and excellent) evokes something that tickles my fancy. Since I doubt I'll ever own one I did end up with a substitute, a Lovena from Prague, but made in Belgium instead of Chech

For an O/U I'd probably go with an exhibition Browning Superposed, preferably engraved by Vrancken who I think was their best. Will probably never get one of those either but very happy with the Diana Grade I have and engraved by Claude Baerten, Jose's brother and head engraver in the 70's. Claude did work on some of their Exhibition guns, and I think his talent is even better than his more famous sibling

All in all pretty lucky

Gentlemen,
My dream gun would be a #5 L.C. Smith 20 gauge in pristine condition with the correct measurement to fit me perfectly, with incredible French Walnut Wood, DT, choked IC/M and 28" Krupp barrels with extractors, Ivory Sight Beads and Matching French Walnut Hand Checkered Butt Plate.

Not much chance of ever purchasing my dream gun, Hunter Arms only made a few (21) of them. None were made post 1913. I have only held one in my hands during my life time, in the late 50's. At that time I did not have the money to purchase, and the owner would not sell the #5 20 gauge at any price, she prized the gun over all her other guns.

all the best,

Pine Creek/Dave
