I am with you except
I have 3 Remington 1100 (12 ga Trap and skeet and a 28 ga sporting)
1 Winchester super X1 12 ga skeet
3 391 Teknys 30 inch 12 ga 26 inch 20 ga and a 28 inch angle port modified teknys
I can’t think of few better. I just picked up a ‘71 1100 large frame 20 gauge. Bought it from my 91 year old neighbor. Started life with a 30” full choke, many years ago sent to Briley for barrel lobotomy and screw in chokes.
I also have a 1974 1100 Skeet B 20 gauge that I bought new…few years ago found a 28” VR Mod barrel for it..
I have a butt ugly 391 12 ga camo field gun with Kick Off, will shoot anything I put in it, 7/8 oz to heavy field load.
Never have owned or shot a X1. As a native of StL had several friends jump over them, I had a 1400 that did me well, poor reputation but worked for me…
Long live Ilion, NY!
I have owned a good many different autos, including 1100, 1187, S&W 1000, SuperX, Browning Gold, Auto 5, and Franchi AL48. The 1100 Competition would be the overall favorite and at the bottom of the list would be the Auto 5 and all its derivatives.
I still regularly take my Browning B-80 12g (same guts as Beretta 303 with a slightly humped receiver) afield. My vintage AL48 20g is the fastest auto I've every shouldered.
I am still partial to Remington 1100s but the vote goes to the Beretta Automatics. I have a youth 303, 3x390 sporting, a 391 Teknys, 2 x parallel Target A400. Great guns.
