I use the removable floor mount version. I made a bracket that goes from about the middle of the rack to the dash. This stopped the rack from shaking around. I really like this setup. I prefer my guns in the middle of the cart. They are out of the way when getting in or out of the cart. Also very important to me is the guns stay away from rain better in the middle of the cart.

Any chance you can show a photo of your bracket?

We did the Rugged Gear U-bolt mounts up front... WITH the fine gun holder covers. The floor bases are on a shelf somewhere. We also use Barrel Tacos since they do a better job of filling the space and keep the guns more stable.

On the back step we have a RG 2-gun floor mount BUT with real nuts and bolts rather than their thumb screws...and the fine gun covers. We liked that we could tip it up if need be to fit it on a small trailer or tip it back if we want to fold the back seat down.

So far, this set-up hasn't let us down.

Ahh okay I didn't realize the Fine Gun Covers would fit on the U-bolt Mounts. That is great to know. Why aren't you using the floor bases?

There's two versions of the covers depending on if the mount is a rear or side mount...as in the part of the U-shaped piece bolts to the frame, if that makes sense.

As for the floor base, I didn't have a drill with me when I put the U-bolt pieces on the windshield frame and found that the guns don't move around without them.

I did try glueing them once but they didn't stick. That was before I discovered Barge Cement. It's big time messy but it's amazing stuff!

Good to know. I'd probably just bolt the floor bases down. That said, I have seen some folks out at the range with just the U Bolt Mounts and no base at all...

i can tell you from experience those 'fine gun covers' become abrasive pads as they collect dust. The jiggly ride in the cart coupled with dust/dirt in the wool makes for a bad combination.

Interesting...I've used them for over 10 years with their push carts and never had any issues. My guns look showroom new.

Then again, my cart will be garaged. I would never use them if my cart was just parked at the club with a cover on it. I agree...I wouldn't want the fine gun covers in that case either.

So just to clarify - you don’t use the floor base anymore? Do you recommend it or do you think it’s just better to have the butt of the gun rest on the golf cart floor?

I have the floor mount version that is detachable, but after a few weeks the black rubber starts to come off and get all over the place.

Are you referring to the black rubber where the gun rests?
