I figured I'd give myself $500 to blow at the gun show, and walked home with these:

that's a JC Higgins Model 20, with the barrel cut down to 19 3/4, and a Cz-75 in 9mm, with the decock only option. The shotgun cost $125, and the pistol was $375.

I couldn't find a holster that is meant for this gun, but an Uncle Mike's hard plastic holster meant for a Glock 26 works great.

I'd been looking at the CZ (specifically the sp-01) for quite a while, but I think that the standard model will work fine. I bought the shotgun because usually conventional stocks don't fit me very well and I tend to prefer pistol grip stocks. However, the stock on this gun is very comfortable. Since it's rare to find a conventional stock that is comfortable to hold, and the gun was pretty cheap, I figured it was a decent buy.

The only thing I want to add to the shotgun is a basic 2 point sling.

I know I've seen that kind of barrel clamp with a sling mount on it, with the swivel either on the bottom or side of the clamp. Where Can I find these, and what is the advantage of the sling mount being on the side?

A pal of mine redid his JC Higgins for HD, and it turned out to be quite nice. Have a look to get some ideas:

I'm not going to change much on it, I'm going to add a basic leather strap 2 point sling, probably a leather lace up shell cuff on the stock, and sand down the recoil pad a little bit so that it doesn't stand proud of the stock. If I can make it look original, I might look at extending the magazine tube so that it is flush with the barrel, since I like the look of those old wood stocked riot guns with the barrel and mag tube flush. If I extend the mag tube, I'm going to do it by making a new mag tube the right length, rather than any kind of extension. It would be the easiest, strongest, and best looking in my opinion. The other option would be to get an nfa stamp, and shorten the barrel to the end of the mag tube.
I might also just take an inch and a half off the end of the barrel, so that it is just above the legal limit.

Was it me, I'd work on the wood a little, but still... it's a great shooter. I can't really talk though, I have a SxS with a cracked stock that I have had for years and have done nothing to fix or replace it. At least yours is a shooter.

Nice, I like the CZ especially. If I were you, I'd refinish the metal with some manner of bake on coating. Or send the thing off to be parkerized and redo the wood. You could have a hell of a gun with a little time and money.

I honestly really envy you, I've never been able to go into a gun show and buy whatever tripped my fancy. What's the DA trigger on that CZ like?

I asked this earlier, can anyone answer it?

I guess I misunderstood. I thought the clamp above was the swivel variety.

Choate makes a decent clamp, in the same style as the above, with the swivel on the side.

Side sling swivels allow for the use of adjustable 2-point slings in a manner that lets the gun hang flat to the body (ejection port out for a righty). Bottom sling swivels will make the gun roll so that the top of the receiver is outward when deployed in the same manner.

ETA: You could also mount a sling swivel directly to the plug like my buddy did by drilling and tapping it:

I've never used a side sling before, but that's probably what I will do. I'm thinking about how to use the barrel clamp that I have with some sort of sling mount off of that.

I did some looking on the choate site and couldn't find the clamp that you were talking about. do you have a link?

Type "55-08-0" into the search box on the Choate site.

There are 3 different part numbers, but you'll have to contact them to figure out which ones might fit.
