I took my 1187 hunting and the forend developed a hairline crack near the back of the foreend that extends a couple inches. You can hardly feel it until it is on the gun. I do not think this was a direct result of me, is this common? (I noticed a foreend on gunbroker with a fracture in almost the exact same spot http://gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=15982969)
I emailed reminton and they want me to ship the entire shotgun out of state. I dont want to do that. If they wont replace the forend where can I buy a good set of synthetic aftermarket stocks (dont want to support remingtion stocks since they dont offer replacement.... unless they are superior, which is unlikely.) So what is a good brand for the replacement? The stock and forend are interchangable with thoes of the 1100 right?

Thanks for your help!!

1100 and 11-87 stocks are interchangeable, but the light contour (LC) forearm will not fit the std. contour barrel, and the sporting clay forearm is shorter. The std forearm will fit the LC barrel, just has a more pronounced gap. My experience is that the synthetic forearm fits both guns. I have both an 1100 and an 11-87 with the remington camo synthetic stocks on them that I got on ebay. I did notice that the walnut forearm from the 11-87 Special Purpose was reinforced with fiberglas or something of the sort near the reciever end.
