Thanks wyo, I have told the story before but in a nut shell. I was searching for a nice SxS to use to hunt over my little pup when I got her. I found within a couple months the Ithaca 16 and later the lefever 16, but they were just not right. found a small mom and pop gun store not far from my house and went and checked it out. I really liked the place, the owner was old the shop was old. the counter had a couple bar stools on our side, as to invite a person to sit relax for awhile.
I did sit and relax, asked the owner if he had any older SxS 16's, he thought a min and then said no. We talked awhile, I told him why I wanted the SxS 16. He thought that was real neat. Then he said wait I have something in the back, let me go get it.
Well he walked out from the back room with a mutton case old leather beat up a bit. Placed a piece of carpet on the counter in front of me. First out was the barrel's and fore arm, that looked pretty good, but then the stock came out, I was floored.
I couldn't hardly stand up. He put the gun together and handed it to me. I would have paid him anything he wanted for it, even though it was an over under, it was perfect to me. He couldn't give me a price he didn't remember what he paid for it, He had no record of it. He saw how bad I wanted it, so he asked if I had anything to trade for it. First I said my wife, he already had one of those so, no. Then I said I had my dad's 45 acp revolver with moon clips from ww1 my dad collected. I said that and 500 dollars, he said no, he thought I was paying too much. He took the revolver, and a couple hundred bucks and it was mine.
I still have it, I'll never sell it. but haven't fired it in 9 years since Bridgette died. Every now and then I want to take it out and shoot it. But cant yet I guess. Some day. She's as sweet to carry and shoot as she is in looks. English stock two triggers and i/c and mod choked. 27 inch barrels, weighs nothing. Now I want to shoot it again.
