Does anyone use this type of oil? and if so what and how do you use it??

I used it in the Army but don't have a clue as to how it compares with things like Remoil. You can probably get it cheap and use it, but proven commercial products like Remoil and Breakfree are so cheap relative to the value of the gun, why bother?

Smiler,

Sorry...just read your WHOLE question. I use the LSA the same way I would use any CLP. The LAW is red like Kroil, and behaves much the same way at 1/10 of the price. I use the LAW on the ejector rod on revolvers after first thoroughly cleaning, on trigger assemblies because it does not thicken in cold and as a general anti rust wipe all over. I know there are better anti rust products, but unless you store your guns in a safe full of salt water, I have NEVER had one rust when protected by LAW. It is also good to lube your reloading press ram. Like Kroil it creeps.

Remoil is CLP.
Are you sure? I don't think so.

Remoil is oil. That's all. It does not meet MilSpec for CLP.

That's as far as I know - it would surprise me if you can back up that statement.
Look at Royal Lubricants MSDS sheets (current supplier of CLP to the government) and the MSDS sheet for Rem Oil with Teflon. There are one and the same, and the same as the old supplier as well.

What you may thinking is Breakfree's version of CLP, which is has been thickened a bit for the civilian market.

LSA oil is 1960-70 technology and was blended mostly for hot or warm climates. The LAW was for cold climates. As lubrication technology has progressed, there are different blends available that may or may not be more proper for the conditions that you shoot under. I like it fine and it is still plentiful and inexpensive. I purchase the LAW oil from a local surplus supplier by the quart for about $6.00 and it is great for general purpose cleaning and oiling.
I actually use Mobil 1 synthetic for an all around gun oil. It's cheap by comparison ($6.97/qt) and is blended for all weather use. Works like a charm and I've never had it burn or discolor. One of my buddies likes to buy every new gun lube or oil that comes down the pike and even he agrees that Mobil 1 is the best that he's tried.
I have most of a 4 oz. bottle of LSA oil left over and wouldn't hesitate to use it on any of my guns.

I bet that I have used at least 50 gallons of Lubricant Small Arms in two tours of Vietnam. Used on M-134 mini-guns, M-5 grenade launchers, M-60 machine guns, M-16's. Great lube for hot conditions. Reduces wear on moving parts with high rate of fire weapons (such as M-134) @ 6,000 Rounds per minute. By the way this lube changes to a clear color when vary hot.
