Ithaca barrel information

I understand that my Model 37, serial #935000, requires a barrel with a post 855000 serial number. When I pulled my existing barrel, I noticed there is no serial number. Was there a transition run of barrels w/o a serial number? The barrel is otherwise properly stamped with Ithaca manufactured information.

Interchangeable barrels do not have a serial number.

OK thanks makes sense. I have a 400XXX serial numbered barrel and a 900XXX receiver. I made it clear to the dealer that I wanted a post 855XXX barrel. Haqs anyone ever had an early style barrel machined/modified to fit..how much? Probably best to locate a suitable barrel and be done with it.

It can not be done. Totally different system.

The post 855,000 barrels have straight cut threads.

The pre 855,000 barrels have screw type threads.

The pre 855,00 barrels were screwed into the frame and the barrel lug was added, then the cuts were machined into barrel/reciever allowing the take-down feature of the gun.

What gauge barrel is that pre-855,000? They have been bringing some pretty good prices lately.

Its a 12 ga. 26" modified. Nice condition.
