Hello fellow Shotgun enthusiasts! I have an Ithaca Flues that needs a new stock. The original one is badly cracked behind the trigger guard and can't be saved. I have found a new one online, but was wondering if I could find an old one and use that? Any information and or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Back when those guns were made they were each a little different (hand made, not cnc) so the wood was all hand fit, no two are alike. Even if it looks very close it will likely split after some use. I would list it on GB as a parts gun and look for a gun that’s not cracked. They’re an inexpensive gun. To restock would be much more than it’s value.

I had same issue and found donor gun in same serial number range which had an un-cracked stock. It still required a bit of hand fitting and glass bedding. Since these guns do not have a central stock bolt, the fit of stock to receiver is critical.

Many Flues stocks show hairline cracks starting near the top of receiver on either side of tang. Unless stock is well fitted these cracks will propagate and eventually larger pieces will chip off.

Thanks for the info! The serial number on it is 340901. If I'm reading the info online properly, it was made in 1920. The chambers have been measured at 2 3\4 inches by a gunsmith. So far, its been taken apart and serviced. I've had it cerakoted and it looks really good, I just need to fix the stock. I'm thinking it would be better to just go with new one. I didn't pay much for the gun, I just want to fix it up. I really enjoy taking things that are broken and making them serviceable again. The bores are very bright, it locks up tight, and there's no cracks in it. Once its done, ill run RST ammo in it.
