They look badass, which is the first criteria in picking a choke, but since I am late to the party, what is the general opinion on them for sporting clays? Are they the different from comp n choke or just different looking?
Jack, have to agree on the Kick/Smoke chokes. Tried a IC yesterday with a Fabarm XLR5 Sporting with 7/8 oz. reloads @ 1300 fps. on a good sporting course and the performance was comparable to the factory Fabarm Mod. Good breaks out to 45 yds. With premium ammo and a spreader, probably would not have to change it in a 100 bird event.JacksBack said:I shoot them in my 391 autos and like them a lot. (FWIW, Pure Gold are in the same class, but are from an unrelated manufacturer.) They pattern extremely well, though be aware about ½ step tighter than conventional chokes of the same constriction. The ports stay relatively clean inside as the pressure from the shot charge keeps them pretty well blown clear. However, they do gunk up on the outside because of the ports. Not horrible as a squirt of RemOil or WD40 or Q-Maxx cleans them off ASAP. That said, I do NOT like ported chokes on my O/U's because the crap from one choke cakes up on the choke above it and vice-versa, building a healthy bridge of crap between them.
