Kolar Warranty?

I heard Kolar's warranty was lifetime and transferable. I'm looking at a used Max Lite so I called them to confirm. Over the phone, I was told yes it's lifetime/transferable. When I asked for that in writing, they sent me a copy of their warranty but it clearly states warranty is only valid for 10 years and it is NOT transferable. Can anybody offer any insight on this before I call them back? I foresee that conversation being a bit confrontational if I don't handle it right.

I can tell you this, I bought a used Kolar and had an issue with it. Drove it down to Racine, explained the issue, they looked up the serial # and determined it was under warranty. Went home with the gun after 1 hour.

Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't sound like my definition of a "lifetime warranty", assuming the gun is a Kolar why did they need to look up the serial number to determine coverage?

Followed up with Kolar. Again, they said their warranty was lifetime (whatever that means), and transferable. And said the warranty card they sent me was outdated and they need to update them in the future to reflect what they tell people. But... still nothing in writing to actually back that up.

You’ll be very hard pressed to find anyone with significant experience with Kolar saying anything bad about their service.

You’re overthink the crap out of this. If you found a used Kolar you like, go for it. They are great people who go above and beyond to take care of the customer.

I've bought 2 used Kolars and have not had any issues with service on the guns. I send the one I shoot most of the time in for an "annual" service, the cost is around $275 plus shipping when I do that. I have not had a problem that would fall under warranty work, so I cannot speak directly to that in particular. I would buy another used one in a heartbeat if I needed/wanted one.

I went down the same road when looking for a like new or NOS unfired. Found one recently that was returned from a wife owning it less than two years and looked new inside and out. it was like new and only small crack in forend base, repaired with some epoxy. Paxton Arms a Kolar dealer for 25 yrs, told me it has a factory 10 yr. warranty from original purchase date and transferable, so about 8 yrs. left. on my selection. I verified with an email to Racine. Silly wanting that assurance the way they are built - sort of like insisting on a warranty for a brick set in Mortar? We are getting to know each other and so far only skeet and confidence is high, I could phone in a 23. I have K80's, Blaser's and CG's, all work, but this one seems to fit and feel better.... and just looks like it will perform well, and with that the gun can't be blamed. Yet, truthfully shoot groups get comfortable with each other and soon becomes a social event resulting in some good days and some bad days.

At the end of the day, the warranty is what's in writing, not what a receptionist tells you over the phone. That said, the used one I found almost a year ago when I made this thread was no longer for sale. I wound up buying one new, so this thread is a bit moot. Anyway... fantastic shotgun. It's been amazing so far.

I called KOLAR and had a pleasant conversation with them. They said regarding warranty issues on a used gun the generic policy is for the owner to send it in for an annual service and while there it will be evaluated based on age and condition, and years remaining for warranty will be established for that S/N. That sounded as fair as can be. However, on the upside, I have had great support for joining the Kolar ownership club, a pleasure to shoot, I fondly look at others or sale and considering acquiring more in the future.
