Read on another forum that a Lyman 6th will be out this spring. Says he got the info from Lyman.

It won't. Lyman's 4th has Activ Hull reloading data. You can probably get a copy on Ebay

On line stuff is great, but I stilllike and buy hard copies. Ya can’t right notes on the internet! Probably more so with metallic reloading were it’s common to work up loads. Yes I know ya can print pages. Then what do ya do with all the pages ya print out besides lose them? In my case I stick them in my reloading manuals. convenient for me I reload for about 10 different calibers and gauges. But to each there own!

E-mail response from Lyman responding to my inquiry regarding a 6th edition, date of reply was August 2022. Based on their reply, it might be possible. 🤞

You are absolutely correct on that. There is denying that it is becoming outdated and needs the new info for new reloaders. With the price of everything increasing more people are getting into reloading and shot shell is becoming increasingly popular. You would know as much as I do when a new one would be coming out. There have been rumors of it being worked on. But that could be 2-3 years out till it is published.

Precision Reloading is cataloging this new edition. Not in stock however. And yes, I prefer a hard copy. A lot more convenient than electronic. If I download some data I still print it. Still waiting on Ballistic Products Tungsten Manual too. Old guys like me don't have a lot of time left to mess around waiting! Last hunt of the regular waterfowl season is tomorrow. Hoping it's not my last hunt ever. Ya never know. Even if you're a young guy.

Here is Lyman’s description of the manual on PR’s website. Some highlights…it will be full color (#5 is mostly all B/W) and include data for VihtaVuori powders! @Silver_Is_Money doing his happy dance right now.

Amen! That's great news!!! Also loads for Ramshot and Accurate powders. I can't wait!!! Happy dance times three!!!

PS: This sounds a lot better than arriving already 5 years antiquated.

I know I've never ruined an electronic device and lost all my info...

I tried pulling up the sierra app to review some .450 bushmast data. App wouldn't work... not in the app store anymore... good thing I still have the sierra 3 ring binder in the basement.

Point is, yes digital media has provided new abilities--especially in search functions etc. But it is a double edged sword. The permanence of print provides a record that is hard to dodge which means i's and t's MUST be looked to. On the net, info can be edited with a few key stokes meaning the need to get things right the first time isn't quite as important. Can you proove bad info was published on the net after it's been removed?

I use both.

hope it isn't the same as their cast bullet manual.
I find that their latest edition of the Cast Bullet Handbook (4th) is about the most broad coverage of cast bullet loading going. Lyman produced a WONDERFUL reference manual with a wider range of powders and bullet weights than had been published previously by any source! Has some of the great old powders, lots of the new powders.

I do NOT understand why you are down on the CBH! The comment seems way off base. And also unnecessary on a shotgun reloading forum. garrisonjoe

because their third edition is 50 times better.
heck the rcbs miniature manual is better than the 4th.

christ i'll take the lazer cast manual over the lyman 4th edition and it's only got store bought bullets in it.
[the good part is have most of the molds in that manual so it is helpful]

anyway..
if I just wanted to shoot linotype bullets on top of 5744, i wouldn't need lymans manual to do that [except for the linotype part] the Accurate manual has all that data plus more,,,, and it's 30 years old.

If the power goes out ( I have a 22KW backup whole house generator.) I keep a good supply of ammunition reloaded and ready so if (and when) the power does goes out, I don't have to run down to the reloading room and crank out some ammunition, or suddenly need to know about a new load, that can't wait for the power to come back onâť—
