Thank you. I think Maxam liked grey color but unsuccessful about tints :)
I would agree with that. But as an OEM-only powder manufacturer, I don't know how important it was for them to make them extremely visible identifiable. The letters on the orange label on the side of the cardboard barrel seem plenty "visible" to me. Maybe they will put colored "dots" in their retail canister powder, even tho they don't have to.

Probably Rio Target Trap 24 g (7/8 oz) and/or 21 g (3/4 oz) shotshells containing CSB6.
Could be, but I was under the impression (based on powder amount) that the powder in a factory Rio 3/4 ounce 12-gauge load was actually CSB-5. But I don't know for sure.

Did you see theirs?
I did, yes. But I'd have to open up another factory Rio 3/4 ounce load (which I have), and photograph that powder next to a pile of CSB-5 to see how similar looking they are. I can do that.

Do you have access to CSB-6? As I recall, there was a gun shop in Illinois which was selling CSB-6.

No I can not access but is already possible to find in shotshells. In case of urgency :)

These powders have different densities and burn rates. So we can measure their velocities and identify (I suppose).

Obviously the color is not a problem for reloader. The type of powder is written on the canister. I just want to learn what do they use in manufactured shotshells.

Where are their powders available from?
CSB-5 can be gotten from American Reloading (under their label of "Comercial #5), and CSB-1 from Hi-Tech Ammo. If you order from American Reloading, use the code: 10OFFSHOTGUNWORLD to get a $10 discount.

I've seen two CSB-6 offerings so far, but they were out of local gun shops.

The Marengo Gun Shop in Illinois was offering Maxam CSB-6 at on time :

But American Reloading is still your best bet, really great folks they are too.

Pressures are good up to ~18 grains in 1 oz, and ~17 grain in 1-1/8 oz:

In my 1-ounce loads in Gun clubs, CSB-5 really performs well:

But if you REALLY want a soft shooting 1-ounce load, try this out:

American Reloading's Commercial #5 (CSB-5) has made me re-discover the Claybuster CB6100. With the larger flake (large flattened spherical ball), there is no flakes getting past the lip on the powder cup on the CB6100. I don't know what it is about the CB6100, but it is really a noticeably softer shooter than the Gualandi GU-1225's.

Thanks for the info. I emailed RIO about powder availability and they told me it is not available to retail consumers........since RIO is owned by Maxam,I am confused. For 3/34, looks like I would need the CSB6 - anyone have that?
