I post this for informational purposes only. Looks to me that their prices are considerably higher than other sources I'm used to, but their set shipping fee may make orders more attractive. At least it's another source.

Here's the notice I got from them today in the event anyone is interested:

Dear Tom,

MidwayUSA now offers powder, providing you a one-stop source for all your reloading needs! We carry the most popular brands: Accurate, Alliant, Hodgdon, IMR, Ramshot, Vihtavouri and Winchester.

Each order incurs a set shipping fee of $9.99 and a Hazardous Material Fee of $20.00. All powder will be shipped via ground freight to the 1st 48 states. Certain local restrictions prohibit shipments to some areas. Please check your local laws before ordering.

Yeah, I saw that in their latest flyer as well. They are also adding primers, but when I checked their website, they didn't have shotgun primers listed.

And their offerings for wads along with prices isn't all that great. But I was thinking the same thing about the shipping...

I get all their emails, too.

Checked that one out and found they still just don't get it.

MidwayUSA is HUGE, with a customer base that's HUGE. They could offer the lowest prices in existence on everything, including shotshell components, but they choose not to. (They've always been metallic cartridge oriented anyway.)

I've been doing business with MidwayUSA for at least 20 years and can remember when everything was shipped free.

I wasn't shocked when that ceased, but I've noticed their prices on a lot of stuff have not been really competitive for years.

For example, if a small outfit like Recob's can sell 8 lbs. of Red Dot for $90.95, why can't Midway, who charges $100?

Larry Potterfield, Midway's owner, is a smart guy and has built a great shooting supply, but he needs to get back to more concern for the shooter and how he's incidiously getting priced out of the game.

MidwayUSA sells Universal for about $112.00 for an 8 lb. jug + $20.00 hazmat = $132.00. I can buy it local from a couple small shops for a little less than $100.00 + tax. Who do you think I'm gonna buy from. Thats a no-brainer.

Their price for International, 4 lb. jug, $62.39 +hazmat. I just bought a 4 lb. jug last night from Gander Mountain, locally. Price, $62.99 + tax = $67 an change. Again, a no-brainer.

The only primer they have listed for shotgun is the CCI 209. Over a $100.00 per 5,000 + hazmat fee = $120.00 per 5,000. I can buy 5,000 PMC's locally for about $80.00 including tax. Again, no-brainer.

Yup, I saw that too. I USED to be a Midway dealer. that was the only way I could afford to buy their stuff past several years. I guess MY dealer status expired and now since I don't have a FFL or the word GUN in my principal business name I don't qualify for dealer status anymore. I told them to take me off their mailing list, I can't afford anything they have otherwise anyway! Powder is the same way! Too danged high!

I'm with Case on this one...they COULD do a lot better, especially with their huge customer base. Look at the wad selection...pathetic.

And I remember when things were shipped for free.

I order things from Midway because I can't get them anywhere else. Bullet molds, bullet lube and a lot of the centerfire bullets I use are not available locally even from the big chains.

Would be nice to throw a couple of cans of powder in with an order, but that's not a good idea with the Hazmat fee and their prices.

Shame...

Yep. You guys are right. On 2nd glance, even at $10/48#, there ain't nothing I need from them so far as powder is concerned.

I do miss the days of Midway including freight (seems like yesterday that they quit), and still order stuff from them...WalMart is about as good as it gets for supplies within about an hour and half drive from here  .

My apologies for wasting bandwidth.
