Replacing the stock on my 20 gauge model 12 got me to wondering about the different variations of stocks. It started with looking for a butt plate for the 20. It led to looking into whether my model 12's have the correct stocks, forearms, and butt plates, and the original colors.
Top is a 1951 12 gauge. Wood and butt plate appear to be the correct variation. Wood refinished?
Second is a 1941 12 gauge. Wood and butt plate appear to be correct. I suspect the wood is refinished, but I like it.
Third is a 1927 16 gauge. Stock looks to be an aftermarket, or a later model. Forearm looks correct, and maybe the original finish. Should be a perch-belly?
Fourth is a 1953 20 gauge. I think the short stock is a cut down original, the one on the gun is a Boyd stock that I'm working on. The forearm looks to be correct, but there is no red in the finish. The Boyd stock came with a Boyd butt plate, I would like to obtain an original, or a reproduction.
Fifth is a 1962 model 42. I would guess that this is all original. The butt plate is curved, should it be? Also, shoud it have the round logo on the butt plate?
Does that sound about right?
Anything to add?
