Id like some thoughts on the gun itself by those who OWN the gun.
Not comparing it to 100 other guns, just looking at the gun and what it is in and of itself.

Do you like it ?
Do you feel it was worth buying ?
Any problems so far ?

Got one from Dick's with a 28" and 22" barrell and red dot type scope for 299.00 What little bit I shot it was trouble free and I liked the weight and drop for quail using the 22" barrell. At the same time I shot it one time with a 31/2 and one time with a 3 inch and did not like the kick. I thought for the money it was a a good gun. I sold it for 200.00 to the 14 year old boy next door to rabbit hunt with and I think his Dad liked it so much they traded guns. I told him anytime he wanted to upgrade I would give him his money back so I guess I did like it and it was a good buy and the gun has still not had any problems.
It did pattern well with turkey loads but there is no way I would shoot ducks with one,

I've had one for about three years, I too bought one of the Dick's specials.

Like "quail chaser", I feel that the kick with the 3-1/2" shells kick real bad!! I bought the 930 a little over a year ago and the 535 has been sitting in the safe...

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the Model 500, there are more barrels and more accessories if you ever want to go that route...And there's no reason to shoot the 3-1/2" shells... unless you like pain....

My husband bought one last year for duck hunting. After one day in the marsh he literally gave it away. It really banged up his cheek, he almost looked like he had a black eye. It was really more a fit issue for him than anything else though. Mechanically, he didn't have any problems with it and neither has the person that has the gun now.

Not really a Mossberg guy but there are 2 sitting in my case, a 12 ga. 500 with a fixed Mod choke and a 20 ga. with tubes. They belong to my oldest son, the 12 was his grandfather's. The difference with the 535 is that it will shoot 3 1/2 in. shells, the 500 is 3 in.
