What was the difference between the 535 and the others? Was that the youth gun?
3 1/2" chamber but with the standard/nominal bore the same as the 930 and 500 shotguns vs that of the 835

I never saw the appeal of the 535. If you want to shoot 3.5" shells, get an 835 and take advantage of the overbored barrel. If you don't get a 500.

I guess maybe if you had a huge investment in standard Invector chokes, but suddenly had an urge to shoot 3.5 shells through them, the 535 would make sense, but I can't imagine that that applies to enough people to support the model.

Carry an 835 a few hours and you'd understand.
The 535 felt slimmer and lighter. Much better handling. The 835 is a tank. A very reliable tank. :)
The 835 and the Remington 870 Mag Turkey variants are both tanks. Feel like you`re carrying one, too. Probably together they`ve killed more turkeys than everything else...maybe combined!

Hello, I have owned all 3 of those guns , the 500,535 and the 835. Shooting 3.5" shells out of the 535 model was uncomfortable to put it nicely. The advantage of 535 for me was it was the only model that Mossberg offered with no barrel porting. Since mossberg has gotten away from porting the barrels I bought a 500 and 835 models again.

Actually, Mossberg STILL makes the 535. However, they are made in short batches exclusively for Walmart. As of 10/30/2023, you can obtain a 535 with a "blued" metal 28 inch barrel and "blued" receiver, wood stock, and wood fore end for $304.00 here in Southern Texas. I got in contact with Mossberg and inquired and was told the above. With THAT being said, if you want a 535, check out your local Walmarts during the Fall/Winter months.
