i'm new here and I thought i'd say hi. I just received a new mp 210 12 gauge with 28" barrels. after a deep cleaning, it really needed it by the way, I took it out for it's maiden voyage. I am impressed to say the least. it points great, feels good and seems to hit point of aim. three shells and 2 pheasants later I was walking back to the truck with a big ole grin. it doesn't seem to be as stiff as I thought it would be and i'm sure it will smooth up once I start putting some shells through it. I do have one question though. how do you make it into an extractor rather than a ejector. I reload and it would be nice not to have to chase the empties around. thanks guys, mark

I read a review recently of a model 210 done by a Brit on a U.K. website, but I cannot find it now and did not save it. I recall him saying that "most" Baikal owners do not know this, but I'm fairly certain he said to push the trigger forward to stop the auto-ejection. His test gun was used at a prestigious trap range and he gave it a good review. There is also a Russian/English website replete with some grammarical errors which might give you the answer, if your EAA manual does not...(Isvhesky Zavod or something).

The British and other Europeans have used this gun for a long time and it does what the basic hunter wants: shoots & endures. I wanted a report on the single trigger and its reliability and he maintains it is absolutely reliable. The Brits, due to tradition and hunting style, seem to prefer the double trigger guns with their straight stock (a la, CZ Bobwhite). Apparently the straight stock makes the movement to both triggers more convenient...

thanks for the info. I tried the trigger and there is no forward movement.
Oh well, I have been looking at a lot of double's lately so that's why I could not remember. The prices people want for an older used Fox are ridiculous. Someone has a CZ Ringneck in 12 ga. for $500 in So. Cal but I want a 20 and the LOP is too long for me. So: it seems the Baikal is the only realistic alternative for a basic hunting shotgun. Stoeger Uplander's are going for $489 but they are not as good as a Baikal in that sub $500 price range...Benelli has not improved their quality IMO.

The 310 O/U is the gun that you change to shooting the upper barrel first, by pushing the trigger forward. Mark

I just picked up an MP210. I've owned some pretty nice shotguns in the past. A Browning Ultra Sporting Clays O/U. A Benelli Super Black Eagle. A few others also. Those two were my nicest. So I have some experience with shotguns.
So you don't get confused. I almost died eleven years ago. Everything gone. I won't write a book. My life has been extremely different the last eleven years.
I went looking at shotguns. Have a friend who isn't doing good. We share a great love of hunting dogs. Might accept his hunting dogs if he dies. I'd rather get him back out with them doing something so he doesn't. I'm also considering a hunting dog myself. So wanted to find a good field gun.
I went and tried a a few. Then I came across this MP210. I was impressed. It feels great. Great balance. Great swing. As far as a useful good shotgun. It's as good as I have seen. Right out of the box. It fits me great. I can say I love this shotgun.
Now the price. I didn't know about the ban. It's a new gun. I got it at Cabelas for $349. With their offer on a credit card. Including tax. It was still $349. I don't know how good a price that is for a Baikal. I do know what I have I think it's a great price. This thing is built like a tank. It could use a little stone here and there. I'm happy as can be with it.
I also had no problem picking up the longer steel shot chokes at EAA. I know the ones included will work. I'd just rather have the longer chokes.
I did also try the O/U's they had there from Baikal. Same length overall. They didn't feel as good as this shotgun to me. This thing really feels great to me. I can say I'm a lover now.
