today I stopped at the local gun shop & found the Browning rep getting ready to leave. he had the new 825 sporting model with him. I was able to handle it & must say I really like it. with a silver receiver , 30" barrels with a matte finish, low rib, nice wood with a matte finish ( no adjustable comb but the adj comb is offered ) and a slim forend.
best of all, NO porting on the barrels ! and a true mechanical trigger !!!
this gun fit me & I was interested but it isnt for sale as of yet. he is going to make his rounds & show it to other shops. it is not offered in any sub gauges at this time.
this model will retail in the $2800 to $3000 range, per his information.
there will be a trap model available .
I am looking forward to getting one of these (y)

I've had several Citori's over the years (decades?). In general, I don't like porting but absolutely refused to buy a 725 because of the unattractive forend that the guns imported into the US come with. Hopefully the porting will be deleted on the 825. And the gun will come with a better looking forend. And mechanical triggers would definitely be a plus. Add a Bradley white sight instead of the HiViz Pro-Comp and I'll be first in line to purchase one.

I don’t see why it’s necessary for a $3500 gun to have mechanical triggers. Browning stubbornly marketed the hell out of non mechanical “mechanical” triggers, and obviously it wasn’t up to snuff. They need to ditch that sinking ship and go with standard citori triggers. It was a stupid endeavor on their part. Fake mechanical triggers? How about take that money and give us a damn case. Eu brownings come in a nice hard plastic case.

Look forward to seeing one if this is on the level. Hoping that the matte finish will not become the new standard, I know it is "in fashion" but looks cheap to me.
Must also comment about those who continually bad mouth the 725's "phony mechanical trigger", from what I've seen most who say that have not owned one. I own three725's and the trigger is one of the best features in my opinion, light, crisp and consistent, far better most inertia guns that I've shot.

I never understood why folks think mechanical triggers are better. Lots of Berettas, Perazzis and Citoris with tube sets and their inertia triggers work just fine.
I’d rather Browning worked on their bottom barrel failure to fire issues instead!
