I've never personally seen this in my areas of Waterfowling, but watching The Flyway Highway last night, I noticed numerous guys hunting with EOTechs on their shotguns. Is anyone here running a similar setup, and if so what are your pro's, con's, and what is your rig like?

LOL, you point a shotgun, you don't aim it, if your looking down the rib, or worse looking at a dot to line up your target you will never be an accomplished wingshooter. Your eye is the rear sight, and the gun should shoot were your looking, you should only have an awearness in your peripheral vision where the barrel is, while focusing hard on your target, duck, goose, or clay. Hope this helps.

I know a guy who's Mossberg 500 is missing both the mid and front beads, just the rib. I don't think beads tell you much if the gun fits. He still hits ducks, once in a while.

Heck Oldthompson - on my skeet gun I used to black out the white front bead with magic marker. Now I just ignore them completely.

The only purposes I see for beads is during gun fit. Otherwise they are useless as boobs on a boar IMO.

EOTech is one of the sponsors of Flyway Highway. That program, by the way, is nothing but a straight 30 minute commercial ad for those sponsors. Have you noticed that every one of those sponsors has some sort of gimmick or angle to them? Does that answer your question?

{hs# Watching a pre recorded episode last night, I was thinking the exact same thing. It's like a role reversal where the actual hunting footage is shown in the commercial slots and the commercials take up the hunting footage slot.

Hi glockfire, I have a burris fastfire on my benelli sbe2. It is my dedicated turkey gun. I have seen episodes of that show and decided to see how I would do at trap and skeet for the heck of it.

I am a fairly accomplished shooter and I did quite well shooting both trap and skeet with it. It took a bit to get used to, but I was able to shoot quite well with the burris on.

However, when duck season came I did take it off. I gave my sx3 to my son in law so I turned my benelli into my duck gun. The sight does mess with peripheral vision a bit and I didnt like it very much, but it is serviceable and given more time I am sure I would get used to it and be proficient with it, although I didnt really care for it for waterfowling. Hope this helps.

The one possible advantage I can think of would be those times when you have an awkward mount. Even if your mount is slightly off it would show you where the correct POI would be. Otherwise it appears to be an unnecessary distraction to me.

Thank you for the constructive post. I can see the Burris FF being great for turkey, but I simply do not shoot trap enough to practice shooting with a red dot. I can see it being an advantage for long range shots, but to me it would be a huge hindrance.
