First post in this forum. Just a for what its worth post...

My washing machine spung a leak- water pump. I've learned the hard way not to deal with appliance mfgrs. for parts. My usual supplier (Home Depot Maint. Warehouse) said 2 days to fax me a price on something that old. Although this model wasn't sold by Sears, I knew Whirlpool has made stuff for Sears, so...

Five minutes later on their dime I had the part ordered. Two days later the new shipper on the block (yellow trucks- don't remember the name) dropped it off. I can wash my dropcloths and get back to work :(

Just something to keep in mind...

Sears is using manufacturers part numbers in their computers so the number will be the same as in your manual or on the part. Best thing is if the part hadn't been the right one I could have returned it hassel free- that IS unusual.

Price was about what I expected, a little under $50 total. If the machine was a few years newer it would have been under $20 but I also could have gotten it locally.

Parts for that kinda stuff is ridiculous, we have a local maintenance guy that also sells parts and is a certified repairman for alot of the manufacturers. I thought I could go online and beat him on pricing, and sometimes I can but is difficult when figuring in freight.

ESP (or something like that) makes replacement parts and can be high dollar, they wanted $89 for a timer switch for our dryer, though needed I have a hard time making sense of doing that for what cost just over $200 when bought as a set (washer/dryer), I reconfigured it to a manual mode and has worked for a year like that.
