Hi folks - Considering a Perazzi MX5 20 that's for sale on Guns International and wondering if these are good guns or whether they are considered lemons. There's not a lot of about them on the internet. Opinons?

I own and shoot one regularly My go to gun for doves and occasionally Qauil. I have 29.5 inch barell, had an ISIS added as this gun has been on a couple high volume hunts, Mexico and Argentina. I actually prefer this guns balance to an MX8 -20 I own. Mechanically no issue. Very easy to maintain as are most Perazzis, shares majority of parts with MX 8. Costs can be all over the place, I paid 7k 3 years ago. One just went on gunbroker for $3500.

Thanks Dig - I appreciate the input on the MX5. Were these MX5's considered field guns or did they come in both a Sporting and Field configuration? The one I'm looking at comes with about a dozen chokes and weights about 7.5 lbs so I'm assuming it's a clay gun. That's what I would mostly use it for but I'm wondering now since you mentioned needing to add an ISIS that it might have too much recoil for a clay gun. I do like the dimension of a 20 since I'm only 5' 5" and like a lighter more slender gun. My field gun is 1956 Beretta AS-20-EL - super light and sleek. Thanks again

Perazzis come in whatever configuration you want. Given the full pistol grip and the extended chokes I suspect that gun was meant to be a clays gun but it is a little bit light. My MX 20 with 31.5 inch barrels weighs 8 lbs 3 oz’s. Interesting that looking at the picture of the monoblock it does not appear to have the Boss style side lugs that Perazzis are known for. Very nice wood.

As others have said Perazzis can be all over the place, mine had a very thin pistol grip stock the reason I added the ISIS was a much I needed length as recoil reduction. Weight is around 7.4 pounds, I don’t think Perazzi can build a light gun but concur that these are more feild than target guns. The gun is at my other hone, I seem to remember this was a 90s build but will confirm.
