What are the big differences? My use is as a field gun primary with the occasional sporting use - I have an F3 for the bulk of my games.

I have an Z-Expedition in 20 ga with 30" barrels. It weighs around 6 3/4 pounds and is very dynamic, works great for hunting or sporting. I believe the Pernice is identical to the Expedition mechanically, just with a rounded action, different engraving and Churchill rib on the barrel vs ventilated for the Expedition. The stocks appears the same, except for the shaping around the action.

Have a Pernice and a Z-Sport. Pernice has a solid narrow game rib, solid half mid rib (barrels are not connected starting about ½ down to the mono block, true round action, and a POW grip - weight on mine is about 6.5lbs. You can get it in a 20/28/.410 combo. Expedition seems more like a Z-Sport with a POW stock and may have a full mid rib. Think the Expedition weighs a bit more too.

Hi, just seen your Z Expedition and noticed a different engraving. As I am interested in buying an Expedition and the local Zoli representative imports the Expedition with the same engravings, I wonder: Why some Expeditions come in this form, whilst in Zoli's website they are presented only with their original Expedition appearance?

Looks like it is on my list. Who makes that cleaning kit?
The cleaning kit is a Negrini, I got a great deal on it from Gunbroker.

I believe the current Expeditions have a different engraving pattern, but they are all the same mechanically. They are very well made guns, you can't do much better for the price, and as others have said, customer service is excellent.

My Z Sport is second to none in quality of build. Absolutely feels and sounds like a Perazzi when you close it. Stunning and wonderful fitting wood as well. My only beef on the Pernice (and i'm told the Expedition does the same) is the ping on closing and shooting (the latter noticeable if you listen carefully). My presumption is it's a function of weight savings.

I wonder if the "ping" has to do with the solid rib on the Pernice? My Expedition and Ambassador game gun do not ping when closing the action, but they both have vented ribs.

The ping on my Pernice is the opening lever. You can just touch it with your finger when closing the gun and it stops. Very high freq. vibration. Apparently not unique to the brand/style of gun.

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread - Would any of you know the major differences between the Z Sport and Pernice? Is the Pernice a Z model gun? Confusing as on site the Pernice Ambassador is under the “Z Ambassador” label but not the standard. Curious to get a pair of either Z Sport or Pernice 12Gauges for game shooting. Thx in advance.
