So a fellow club member is bringing a 20 gauge model 12 for me to look at this Sunday.
He knows I have been looking for a skeet gun to match my 12 gauge.
He is willing to sell I believe.
I have no pictures and have not seen the gun yet.
He says it has target quality stocks, solid rib barrel, fixed IC choke, and no engraving.
The IC choke he says was the reason he bought it as it is less common.
Assuming it is in great condition, what is a ballpark price range?

Thanks

Jim

Without good pictures of the gun, showing all the particulars such as the serial #, barrel stamping, condition of the wood and bluing, barrel length, etc...it is very difficult to give a ballpark number. If you don't know much about these guns, find someone who does, show it to them, and get their opinion. Legitimate 20 gauge skeet M12s in good or better condition can range from two to three grand. Check the auction sites such as GunBroker, Guns International, etc..and look at the pictures of similar listings and what they are SELLING for, and not necessarily the asking price.

The guy I would ask, is the guy I am buying from.
He is our club Winchester guy.
There is one on Gunbroker now but it is a Pidgeon gun. Cracked stock and it is near $3k now.

Another that is local but priced high and not selling.

That range is what I was looking for.

This is not a skeet gun I am buying. It is marked IC, not skeet.
I don't know if that makes it more or less valuable.

If I buy it I will certainly post pictures.
At least I will get to shoot it first.

Thanks

I have a full set of Citoris already. Superposed models don't really float my boat. Good condition examples are really expensive.
I also have a full set of 870s and I do really like pumps.
I managed a 50 straight last summer at a inter club fun shoot with my 12 gauge model 12.
I was hoping to repeat that with a 20 gauge.
Plus, I am hoping I am closer to the $2k mark rather than the $3k. We will see this Sunday.

The $2700 gun looks like a legitimate round post Pigeon Grade skeet gun. The $4500 gun is a three pin vent rib skeet and is the bottom of the barrel for Winchester collectors and is not worth anywhere near $4500. As far as the IC gun, we have no idea what it is. No pictures, no appraisal.

Why did this one sell for so much? The box?
Box, vent rib, WS-1. Late gun, pics stink. Was the buyer smart? Was he not so smart? Who knows.

As to your question re value of the IC (maybe a Super Field?) without good pics answer is a broad range - say $300 to $3000. That's because we cannot assess originality and condition without pics. Originality and condition matter. Alot. You didn't even give us a SN or range.

I'll have to wait another week, he forgot it.
He has had it about 15-20 years and it matches his skeet gun perfectly, other than being IC choked and not having Skeet stamped on it.
I mentioned was it a Super Field, and he thought that sounded familiar but wasn't too sure.
He is willing to sell it though.

I still haven't met up with this guy to see the gun. Might have to wait for warmer weather.

I found this local to me on Gunbroker.
Looks all original but a little worn and overpriced. But it checks all my boxes.
I may try and haggle a little if it doesn't sell.

I saw that. Even my untrained brain could see it wasn't all original.
The Simmons rib doesn't bother me as much as that Japanese wood on it.

That 12 he has looks nice, but I have a 12 already.

Did Simmons ever make 28" Skeet barrels for the Model 12. The rib is Simmons marked.
There is one on Gunbroker now and I sent the seller a question about the length and he says it is in fact 28".
