Remington 870 rifled slug barrel w/scope package?

I am putting together a small handy slug gun repeater from a 20 gauge 870 express youth.

I was curious if anyone has any experience with the Remington Special Purpose Fully Rifled Cantilever, Scoped Package that includes the 2-7 X 32mm scope in the package? (Remington stock number 27595) Is this scope a total waste of money? Would I be better of just getting the standard rifle sight rifled barrel? (Remington stock number 24609) The best price I have found for the scope package is around $220 while the rifle sight barrel is around $180. Is the cantilever and scope worth the extra 40 bucks?

Thanks in advance for any info.

No.
I fell for that deal at Dicks last year.
The scope carries the Remington name but it's a clunker.
I replaced the scope with a better one and the Remington scope languishes in a corner of the gun room.
Perhaps I could use it as a target.
The scope is of poor optic quality, dim, poor light tramsmission and I was unable to focus it properly.
The cantilever mount is good, the barrels are good and accuracy is more han acceptable.
As usual you will have to spend more money of finding the slugs it likes too shoot.

I would say that the cantilever itself is worth the extra $40. If you don't like the Remmington scope, pitch it or sell it on ebay for $20 to partially offset the difference in price. You can't beat a cantilever mount if you plan on using a scope or red dot type site.

I would also say the cantilever is worth the extra cash.Gun shops here charge $15-20 a hole to drill and tap for scope rails which you'd need four holes, plus your rail. Also,if you plan to use anything else other than slugs and want to put a smoothbore barrel on---you won't disturb your scope (although I ALWAYS check and sight in again) by removing a scope off the reciever.Just my preference.
