I've heard these stories but never actually seen it in the wild. I've run lot's of Rio 16 gauge shells with no primer piercing or any other problem. I can't say the same for Fiocchi; their 16 gauge stuff is really bad about head size issues in my experience.

I bought several flats of 16's. Must have been a bad run of hulls. Most wouldnt chamber in my A5 and some caused issues with my Browning 525 sporting gun. Only time I ever had pemroblems with Rio.

 

I have probably shot a pallet of 32 gram, 1150 f.p.s. Rio #7.5's with no issues at all.

I agree, I don’t think it possible to order directly from Rio. Try CAC Supply in Ebensberg, Pennsylvania. They carry those and all others for a decent price. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to any shipping programs, discounts and such they may or may not offer.
BTW: I always liked Rio’s. Never an issue.

I used a light 12 gauge Rio load and liked them, but my 725 did not. After replacing firing pins several times, I gave up on them. Other makes/models probably ok.

 

Someone else mentioned broken firing pins, or maybe it was you. I haven't ordered any RIOs, but I probably will. Since most of my shotguns are double barrel with all kinds of choke combinations and 2.5 inch chambers I'd like some 2.5 shells to fit. I think RIO makes them. Thanks for your input.

Hi J.Fred: I don't understand. How do RIO 20 gauge shells stick in your skeet tubes? The skeet tubes are at the muzzle and the shell back at the breech end? I'm flommoxed.
