Well. i was out at Rocky Creek today practicing and looking over the grounds for the up coming South Carolina State Sporting Clay's Shot this coming weekend . Oct. 1st. to the 4th. .All is looking great . Rocky Creek spares no expense .They are ready and more than able to put on a state shot, beater less a regional. Chris Cantrell and team has been planing this shot for months . Every detail has been worked out to the fullest . From water trucks to potra pots to hospitality tents to a fully stocked pro shop . . Nothing has been left to chance . Not even the direction of the sun as to not cause a problem with the Fitasc set . All has been thought through . if you haven't registered yet do quickly . They have over 250 shooters and growing .
They have:
Thursday Prelim
NWTF Prelim on Friday
Rio Ammo Prelim 5Stand (Thur/Fri)
Rio Ammo Main 5stand (Sat/Sun)
PMS Firearms 100 Target FITASC
Briley 50 Target Sub Gauge (20/28/410 and 12ga event)
Academy Sports Super Sporting (50 targets Sunday only)
200 Target Main Event brought to you by Promatic, Blaser and the South Carolina Sporting Clay's Association.
This will be a really great shot .

You had better have your big boy britches on when you shoot Rocky Creek. From past experience,
The targets will be fair but challenging. As someone on SGW has said, there's no hard targets, just some above my ability. I expect they will be some of us who will find that to be true.

Good luck, I'll see you there.

I was hoping to see a water truck being used during the shoot. After 4 days of rain here in the Upstate and now seeing the projected forecast for the weather during the tournament dates, I don't think dust will be an issue. Looking forward to the shoot. Jealous that the club isn't closer to the NW side of the State.

Well i headed back out to Rocky Creek today to check up on things and got some more pictures. Here is what i found. All the finishing touches were getting done . The place was a buzz. The phone was ringing with people worried about the weather. Some still coming and some pulling out.
This is going to be a great shoot no matter what the weather does.So stop *****ing about it and put your big boy pants on and get your butt here. Its just a little water .The best part about shooting in the rain is you can really see your shot stream .You will know where you missed.
Here are some pictures i took today.

Also Oak Grove Plantation has some great RV spots as well as some great fully furnished cabins on the property for rent . A great way to stay when you are here.

A large crane was brought in to finish off the Make a Break .

The large basket was raised to about 100 feet and had two vary challenging birds. The number 5 bird and the number 7

Image

These are the two vary evil men that set these great targets.

Then it was time to test them and see what they looked like.
as you can see from my pics. it is a vary testing pair of birds .The number 5 is challenging but hit-able. The number 7 is a vary big target .It is so fast and high that it has about a 5 second hang time. You can see the clay in the pictures.

Thanks for the pics Blake. Cantrell and the big cat (Doug Thompson) should have some great targets set.

I'm under the weather and not worried about the weather. It rained like hell before the southeast regional in '13 and rocky creek did a fine job.

Rain or shine, this should be a great shoot!
