Ok guys, of course we have a 5 day monsoon the weekend of our state shoot. Any recommendations for dealing with rain? Anybody tried Rain-x on shooting glasses?

Stay home?
Bring a few dry cases for your gun that you keep in the car; some form of CLP or similar; good raingear (including footwear) for you
When I went snorkeling in the Islands, they used a mixture of baby shampoo and water to keep the masks fog-free

You know us clay addicts aren't going to stay home, but I don't want a Virginia on my hands if you know what I mean. Feel like we are making some progress in South Carolina. Do not want rain to be a setback. Back to topic, It is always a pain dealing with my shooting glasses when it rains. Seems like when I wipe them, I just create more drops. Thanks for the baby shampoo tip.

For overnight trips I take two sets of raingear. Many lens wipes and gun oil and gun clothes. Extra --dry--gun sleeves.

Try to maintain an even strain.

I shot the Zones in a raging storm a few years back. Mud to you ankles , water everywhere and a bad attitude from the organizers. I have never been back to that club. Can't help a rain storm , can help directing bad attitudes to the paying customers.

Ok Mac, you are the publicity director for the SCSC Asso. I know you have a direct line to the Almighty.
Don't wait until Friday to make that call. We need partly cloud sky's, high of about 70. But of course
We'll be there rain or shine. You know what they say about our group. "When it gets to tuff for everybody else, it's just right for us". Seriously, I hope Rocky Creek covers the traps. It's been raining since Thursday, you know how the targets fly when wet. But, here again, it will be the same for everyone.

I hope everyone has as good of a time as I plan on having, rain or not.

Mac, I forgot to mention that the best you ever shot was in a rain storm, Remember?

As my grandfather used to say "A blind hog finds an acorn every now and then".

This is probably been the worst week of rain I can remember and are calling for continued showers through Sunday. I do not think Chris is going to need the water truck he ordered for dust control.

Try blue Dawn dish washing soap, to battle fogging. I keep it in my bag, just rub it on thin, let it set, then polish off. I also take a rather large brim hat that has been treated to repell rain.

I do long distance triathlons and that means 1-3 mile training swims in the pool and in the ocean in cold conditions. I use Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo and it works great! I just put one drop on the inside of the lens, gently smear it around with my finger tip then polish it to clarity with a soft clean cloth and you are good to go. I heard God is thinking about ordering another Ark for South Carolina. keep your powder dry, Chip

At our local club, we used cheap 33 gallon garbage cans to cover the target turrets. Work great and keep the targets dry.

Rocky Creek is a full time first class operation. They know how to plan and have the capital to make the shoot as comfortable as possible in bad weather. They aren't about to cut corners. Make sure you know where the laundromat is to dry clothes. Make sure the hotel has hair dryers for drying out your guns. Wear a long brim hat. Bring towels to dry off your cart seats. Bring a tow chain or rope for your vehicle or cart.

Hey Mac, I have an old wide brim hat you can use. It's garnet and black, I think the gamecock logo
Is removable. Oh wait, I forgot, your blood runs orange.
I bought a cheap rain suit at Wallmart about a yr. ago. It wasn't plastic, kinda nylon type material. It works really well. I tried it out while fishing on the big pond. I think I paid about 18 bucks.

Glasses: not sure how well soap is going to work as anti fog once the glasses get wet. Now you have.....suds. I paid the big bucks to have mine made from Crizal lenses. That **** beads water like a duck. Keep a can of compressed air in the bag, blow the water off

Head: Gore Tex brimmed hat (not ballcap) is the ticket. Keeps water off your glasses and off the back of your neck

Rainwear: The lightest, best vented Gore Tex top you can find. Gore Tex over trousers with zips that go from ankle to knee

Feet: The British have this dialed in: rubber Wellington boots. As long as they don't have a hole your feet will be 100% dry no matter what. I recommend Le Chameau. Avoid anything made of neoprene unless it's quite cold. Also avoid those Lacrosse clown shoes with 1500 grams of Thinsulate. Those are for sitting in a deer seat, not for walking around.

+1 to a well stocked cleaning kit with plenty of oil. A spray can of remoil and a rag will keep the rust away.

If two of my squad mates back out, I will also. I had my fill of shooting on a short squad. I think it was at Hermitage earlier this year, that I found myself all alone, waiting for the rest of the squad to show up, only to find that they had shot poorly the day before and didn't want to get soaked on Sunday (it hardly rained).
Oh, I found out yesterday that I'm getting my Parcours barrels from Briley this Friday and it's a signature required package (what an excuse).

Looking at the tropical storm map, it seems there will be rain for a good portion of the Eastern seaboard for several days, although the majority seems to be more NC northward

Just put your big boy pants on and get out there. You only live once.
We will be there! just cause you been to the desert, you have to get all tough on us!
I am fine with the rain as long as everyone is prepared and forewarned. Hopefully, everyone that shoots will know what to expect. We are bringing the Rhino, Big umbrellas, Frog Togg suits, and some baby shampoo!!!! See you Friday.

Sounds like you might need your waders instead of big boy pants.

Everyone stay safe and shoot well.
